Opening Segment: Breezango vs. Forgotten Sons

As usual, Jaxson Ryker’s at ringside for this one. This will be Breezango’s first tag match together on nXt TV.

Highlights include:

Fandango and Cutler begin. Fandango shows off a little dancing after Cutler tries, from the mat, to slam him. Breeze gets tagged in and takes care of Cutler and Blake on the outside.

Shortly thereafter, tags are made to Fandango and Blake. Ryker interjects himself into the match, nailing Breeze from behind inside the ring. He quickly slips outside the ring before the referee can see him. Blake with a pendulum backbreaker for a 1 count.
Tag in to Cutler and he gets a 2 count on Breeze. Beauty suplex and another 2 count.

Fans get behind Breeze who fights out of a headlock. Enziguri on Cutler. Flips out of a suplex attempt to tag Fandango, but Ryker prevented the tag. The referee saw him though and Ryker has been ejected!

Fandango gets the tag and hits Blake with a series of knife-edged chops. Powerslam on Blake, then another on Cutler. Beauty tornado DDT, too!

He goes up to the top rope, has to jump off when Blake avoids the top rope manoeuvre.

Combo frankensteiner/diving headbutt by Forgotten Sons but they can’t get a pinfall because Breeze tackles Cutler to break the fall.

Fandango’s in now and he back body drops both Cutler and Blake to the outside before joining them with a front flip plancha. Catapult by Breeze, on Cutler, into the forearm of Fandango. He then hits a slingshot elbow drop on him. 1-2-3.

Winners: Breezango via pinfall

1 cool point for Breezango’s debut nXt TV match. Not exactly rookies though and they are going to add a lot to the small Tag Team Division. 1 cool point for the Forgotten Sons for bringing the fight, and I liked their double team combo. Great mix of top-rope oriented offense.

Highlights from the nXt North American Championship Triple Threat match were shown. Dream escapes with the win over Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne. Post-match, Dunne was interviewed by Cathy Kelley. He says he’ll do whatever it takes to take the title away from Velveteen Dream.

Second Segment: TakeOver Toronto Highlights

Highlights from the nXt Tag Team Championship match were shown. Post-match, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish of the Undisputed Era were approached as they were walking backstage. O’Reilly & Fish want to know where GM Regal is. They’re asked about the prediction Cole made, about fulfilling the prophecy of having all the gold in 2019. O’Reilly asks where in the rulebook it says one can cover an illegal man to win the match.

A replay is shown where O’Reilly & Fish may have a case to take to Regal. More on that next week.

A promo package on the new look for Io Shirai is shown. She defeated Candice LeRae at TakeOver: Toronto.

Third Segment: nXt Women’s and Men’s Championship Matches at TakeOver: Toronto

Highlights from the nXt Women’s Championship match at TakeOver: Toronto are shown. Post-match, Cathy Kelley asks Shayna Baszler if anyone has pushed her quite as much as Yim did tonight. Baszler simply says, “And still”, and walks away, visibly in pain.

Highlights from the nXt Championship 2 out of 3 falls match between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole are shown. It included the reveal of the 3rd fall, which was a cage match with a myriad of weapons attached to the cage walls. Winner could only be decided by pinfall or submission. After a tremendous fall from the top of the cage, Adam Cole managed to flop his arm on top of Gargano to retain the championship.

Highlights from the encounter between Matt Riddle and Killian Dain, in Toronto, were shown. Their brawling ended for the night by plunging through a few tables near the main stage. They will wrestle next week on nXt TV.

Main Event: Jordan Myles vs. Cameron Grimes (nXt Breakout Tournament Finals)

Highlights include:

Dragon screw leg whip by Myles for a 2 count, following a long headlock by Grimes, which got the crowd behind Myles.
Stiff leaping forearm smash by Grimes, meeting Myles when he jumped to the outside.

Myles fights out of an arm submission to the left arm, swung to the ropes by Grimes and is met by a lariat. 1-2- kickout by Myles.

A little boxing by Myles to get some momentum. Showcases some agility with a tumbling sequence and then a nasty penalty kick, from the apron, to the face of Grimes.

Top turnbuckle, diving crossbody on Grimes for a 2 count. Grimes bends his left leg a number of times, trying to work out the pain.

Orange Crush by Grimes! 1-2- kickout by Myles. Phoenix comments on his resiliency.
Beauty bridging German suplex by Myles for a 2 count. Both guys are bringing the fight to one another.

Grimes and Myles run off opposite ropes…they meet mid-air….Grimes manages to powerslam Myles! 2 count. He’s bewildered by what happened and begins to pummel Myles on the mat.

Roundhouse kick to the head of Myles, but Myles isn’t phased. He nails Grimes from a seated position, after wagging his finger at him for trying to whip him into the turnbuckle. Brainbuster, followed by the Midnight Storm (450 splash). 1-2-3!

Winner and Breakout Tournament Champion: Jordan Myles via pinfall

Post match, Myles is applauded by the fans. Great response. GM Regal joins him on stage and presents him with a championship contract. Myles is very happy.

2 cool points for Myles. He won over the Toronto audience during this one and showed great resiliency, hops and strength. Curious to see which title he chases. It’d be neat to see him join up with someone for a shot at the tag titles, but a North American title shot is more likely.

2 cool points for Grimes. His offense was half submission, half power and all business. He had a great run in Impact Wrestling recently and his in-ring experience showed. He’s clearly comfortable wrestling in the spotlight like he did tonight.

After a 4/5 showing for TakeOver XXV, it seems I went 3/5 for Toronto. Was hoping for the Era to be dripping with more gold, but we’ll have to wait on that. Shirai got the win but LeRae looked amazing in the loss. Fans rallied behind her following the match, so both succeeded in that one.
