Original Plans for WWE Money In the Bank, Becky Lynch’s Opponent

The original plan for the WWE Money In the Bank pay-per-view was for then-RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch to defend her title against Nia Jax, and retain, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

While Jax would have faced Lynch at the pay-per-view, the plan was for Shayna Baszler to win the women’s Money In the Bank briefcase, and become Becky’s main rival for the title.

Becky noted in an interview that she found out she was pregnant in April, but with her due date being in April, it’s likely that she was pregnant when she retained over Baszler at the WrestleMania 36 tapings in late March.

Lynch announced her pregnancy on Monday’s RAW and relinquished the title to Asuka, who had won the women’s MITB briefcase the night before. There’s no word yet on what original plans for Asuka were, but it’s expected that she will feud with Baszler and Jax for the next few months.
