OVW Veteran Loses Trademark to Billy Gunn

Tony Gunn, a 16 year veteran at Ohio Valley Wrestling, says that Billy Gunn trademarked “The Gunn Show” from underneath him.

Tony has been using the Gunn Show gimmick for around four years now. He’s gone as far as paying for customized theme music and ring attire with the name on it. He mentions that OVW management came to him recently and told him he’s barred from using the term, now.

Management being the ones to tell him certainly implies that Billy Gunn sent out a cease and desist letter to the company over Tony’s usage. The term is on all of Tony’s stuff including merchandise, catchphrases and music. Tony now has to completely rebrand himself after four years.

Tony does add that he primarily blames himself. He blames himself for not taking the initiative of trademarking it himself. He says he never should have relied on OVW to protect him. He urges wrestlers to learn from his mistake and protect their brands.

He concludes the video by telling the person who did this to him that karma is a bitch and he’ll get what’s coming to him. Even though he doesn’t specifically drop Billy Gunn’s name, he begins the video by saying it’s a Gunn from a bigger promotion. Then, he ends the video by calling him an “ass, man.”
