Plans for an NXT Japan Division Dropped

Due to the current situation around the world with the coronavirus pandemic, all plans for the NXT Japan brand have been dropped. The coach who would have helped train the new talent in Japan, Kendo Kashin, was among the list of people who were released last week due to budget cuts.

Triple H announced their plans to launch a Japan brand last year when talking to Tokyo Sports. They even worked out a plan for All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Jun Akiyama to “guest coach” at the performance center which would eventually lead to some cross promotion between NXT Japan and AJPW.

Launch plans were supposed to go underway this year, but health regulations have made it impossible to expand over there now. The plan isn’t put on hold or scheduled for a new time. It’s just dead in the water.
