Shane Helms Says Pro Wrestling Without a Crowd “Sucks”, Comments on AEW and More

WWE Producer Shane Helms, who was furloughed from the job back on April 15, took to Twitter last night and gave his thoughts on pro wrestling with no audience.

TV writer Dave Schilling tweeted on how “bored and starved” Americans are for live sports, so much that they stay up to watch Korean baseball played in front of an empty stadium. Schilling said, “WWE ratings should be going UP with a captive audience. Instead, it’s tanking.”

Helms responded, noting that pro wrestling “sucks without an audience” and comparing it to watching stand-up comedy without a crowd.

“Because it sucks without an audience. It just does. Nobody loves wrestling more than me but I struggle to watch it while it’s missing one of it’s most vital components, the fans! It’s like watching Standup without a crowd. No matter what, it just won’t be as funny,” Helms tweeted.

Another fan responded and asked Helms his thoughts on what AEW has been doing during the coronavirus pandemic. They wanted to know Helms’ thoughts “from the producer and talent standpoint.”

“They’ve done some things that I really like,” Helms responded.
