Vice TV General Manager Calls Dark Side Of The Ring A Mega Hit, Plans To Expand Franchise Into “New Worlds”

In a new interview with Deadline, Vice TV’s EVP and General Manager Morgan Hertzan calls the pro-wrestling themed Dark Side of the Ring documentary series a mega-hit for the network, with future episodes expected to be greenlit. Hertzan also states that based on data collected from those who watch they show, they plan on expanding the franchise and using the storytelling format in different worlds outside of wrestling.

We are eagerly looking forward to explore more ways to do more episodes of Dark Side of the Ring and Dark Side of other strands,” he said. “We also are looking at all of our audience data and what people love about that show is, and are using it to inform other shows that we’re greenlighting. The audience is telling us they love this kind of storytelling so we want to keep delivering on that over and over again.

Last night’s episode covered The Assassination of Dino Bravo, which saw a viewership boost in the overnight ratings from last week’s special on Jimmy Snuka and Nancy Argentino. An extended cut on Bravo’s story will air on April 28th.

There will also be extended cuts for the season two two-part opener on the tragedy of Chris Benoit. That airs April 27th.
