– Tonight’s WWE NXT episode opens with a black SUV pulling up outside of Full Sail Live. Rhea Ripley gets out and walks into the building.
– We cut to the normal NXT intro.
– We’re live on tape from Full Sail Live in Winter Park, Florida as Mauro Ranallo welcomes us. He’s joined by Nigel McGuinness and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. Nigel says Johnny Gargano will be here tonight to address his NXT future.
Damian Priest vs. Boa
We go right to the ring and out comes Damian Priest as Alicia Taylor does the introduction. Out next comes Boa.
The bell rings and Priest takes Boa to the corner. The referee counts and he backs off. Boa ducks a strike and taunts Priest. Priest gets a quick upperhand and taunts Boa now. Boa kicks and charges but Priest drops him with a shoulder. They have words in the middle of the ring. Priest with a huge slap to the face. Priest sends Boa to the corner and unloads with boots.
Priest with more offense, including a big kick and a running strike in the corner. Priest with a Falcon Arrow. Priest kicks Boa around and taunts him, then grabs him by his ear as the referee warns him some more. Boa fights back with strikes. Boa gets the upperhand with big kicks.
Boa charges with a flying kick as the crowd pops for him. Priest shuts down the momentum with a big lariat in mid-air. Priest with a big Shadow Kick, then the Reckoning for the pin to win.
Winner: Damian Priest
– After the match, Priest stands tall as his music hits. We go to replays as Priest raises his arm in the middle of the ring.
– We get a video package for Roderick Strong vs. NXT North American Champion The Velveteen Dream. They will do battle next week, live on the USA Network with the title on the line.
– Back from a break and out comes Johnny Gargano to a pop, making his first Full Sail Live appearance since losing the NXT Title to Adam Cole at “Takeover: Toronto 2019” during SummerSlam Week.
The musics stops and fans chant “Johnny Wrestling!” as Gargano takes the mic. The chant goes on for a few minutes as Gargano takes it all in. There are a few fans booing Gargano. Unfortunately Gargano doesn’t stop the chant and just lets it go on and on around on. Gargano says he told officials he wouldn’t be long when he come out here, but… he asked to come out and talk to the fans. He’s heard the rumors and read the reports, and everyone is asking what the future holds for him. A “Please don’t go!” chant starts up now.
Gargano recalls how he received a standing ovation after the loss to Cole. A “thank you Johnny!” chant starts up again. Gargano says he just wanted to thank the fans because there would be no him without them. He says they built NXT together, and he absolutely loves everything about NXT. A NXT chant breaks out now. Gargano says he’s been here for a long time, seen people come and go, but the fact is they have a say in their future, they have a choice, and he’s made his choice. Gargano says the fans have had his back since day one so he wanted to come out and tell them that he is officially… the music interrupts and out comes Shane Thorne.
Fans boo as Thorne takes the mic on the stage. Thorne goes on and is met with a “Johnny Wrestling!” chant as he approaches the ring. Thorne comments on Gargano wasting time and says he could’ve taken a selfie and put a tweet out instead of coming here. Thorne enters the ring and says he gets it. Thorne gets it, Gargano is a pillar of NXT, he’s Johnny Takeover. Thorne gets in Gargano’s face in the middle of the ring, and says NXT will be just fine without Gargano. In fact, with the right person finally in the spotlight, it’s going to be that much better. Thorne tells Gargano to take a walk, and motions for him to leave the ring. Gargano goes to exit but stops. He says Thorne is right, he is NXT, and he’s not going anywhere. Gargano turns and levels Thorne, dropping him in the middle of the ring. Gargano stands over Thorne and spells out “NXT 4 Life” as the fans pop again. Gargano’s music hits and he poses in the corner. Gargano exits and thanks everyone as we go back to a break.
Pete Dunne vs. Angel Garza
Back from a break and out comes Pete Dunne to the ring. Angel Garza is out next.
Garza stalls some to start but Dunne strikes first and takes him down. They tangle and Dunne bends the fingers back like usual. They tangle some more and get back to their feet for a showdown. More back and forth off the ropes now. Dunne levels Garza with a big clothesline. Dunne with a big kick. Dunne goes back to the fingers and keeps Garza down but Garza avoids a stomp.
Garza extends his hand for a shake but Dunne grabs it and tries to bend it. More back and forth as they end up on the floor now. Garza with a stiff kick. Some fans chant for Garza now as he rolls back into the ring while Dunne recovers on the outside. Dunne makes it back in at the 6 count but Garza goes right to work on him. Garza with a big chop in the corner, then a kick while Dunne is stuck in the turnbuckles. Dunne counters and sends Garza into the middle turnbuckle. Dunne unloads with chops to the chest now. Dunne with a big enziguri in the corner, then a release German suplex for another pop.
Dunne with a running stomp to the hands and a kick to the head for a 2 count. Garza blocks a pumphandle slam and they tangle. Garza lands a dropkick. Garza goes for a double underhook but Dunne counters and hits a sitdown powerbomb for a close 2 count. Garza counters a move and rolls Dunne for a 2 count. More back and forth as Dunne gets crotched from the top. Garza charges with a big strike in the corner for a 2 count.
Garza with a big chop. Dunne looks to turn it around but Garza knocks him back for another pin attempt. Garza unloads with right hands while Dunne is down, standing over him. Dunne counters a move and stomps away to the jaw. Dunne with a kick to the face. Dunne with a kick to the gut and a big right hand. Garza counters a move and punt kicks Dunne in mid-air. Garza goes to the second rope for a moonsault but Dunne avoids it and traps Garza in a triangle, then bends the fingers back to get the submission.
Winner: Pete Dunne
– After the match, Dunne stands tall as his music hits. We go to replays.
– We see Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley backstage warming up. Back to a break.
– Back from the break and we see footage from Monday with The Street Profits at Central Park in New York City, talking about their appearance at RAW from Madison Square Garden later that night. Angelo Dawkins talks about how they are missing the NXT Tag Team Titles and Montez Ford agrees. They reveal that they will be challenging for the titles on the September 18 NXT USA Network premiere.
Raul Mendoza vs. Cameron Grimes
We go back to the ring and out first comes Raul Mendoza. Cameron Grimes is out next.
The bell rings and they go at it. Grimes with the first takedown but Mendoza comes right back with a drop toe hold. They hit the mat again and Mendoza rolls Grimes around for a 2 count. More back and forth. Mendoza with a hurricanrana. Mendoza with a big chop in the corner, and another in the opposite corner.
Mendoza goes to springboard in from the apron but Grimes knocks him out of the air. Mendoza lands out on the floor. Grimes brings it back into the ring and nails a big clothesline for a 2 count. Grimes keeps Mendoza grounded by his arm now. Fans rally for Mendoza but Grimes keeps him down by his arm. Fans rally again and Mendoza fights up. Grimes keeps him by his arm and sends him back to the mat.
Mendoza keeps fighting and hits an enziguri. Mendoza dropkicks Grimes into the corner, then runs in with a big kick to the head. Mendoza goes to the top, walks the rope and hits a big dropkick. Mendoza keeps going and hits a running Shooting Star Press for another close pin attempt. Mendoza gets suckered in for a cheap shot. Mendoza catches a kick and unloads with strikes in the middle of the ring, including a kick to the head to stun Grimes into the corner. Mendoza keeps fighting after a Grimes counter in the corner. Mendoza goes to the top but is forced to land on his feet as Grimes moves. Grimes follows right up with a big double stomp and the pin to win.
Winner: Cameron Grimes
– After the match, Grimes stands tall as his music hits. We go to replays and come back to Grimes playing to the crowd.
– Candice LeRae enters the office of NXT General Manager William Regal and can’t figure out why Io Shirai is in next week’s Triple Threat with the way she’s been acting lately. Regal changes next week’s Triple Threat with Shirai, Mia Yim and Bianca Belair, and adds Candice to it to make it a Fatal 4 Way. The winner will earn a future title shot at NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler. Regal keeps thinking and says it may turn into a Fatal 5 Way if Rhea Ripley can win her match tonight. Candice doesn’t care as long as she can get her hands on Shirai.
– We get a vignette for Dakota Kai, who will be returning to NXT TV soon.
– Nigel reveals that next week’s NXT North American Title match will air in the first hour, on the USA Network, while the Street Fight between Matt Riddle and Killian Dain will air in the second hour, on the WWE Network.
Shayna Baszler vs. Rhea Ripley
We go to the ring for tonight’s main event as Rhea Ripley makes her way out. NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler is out next for this non-title match.
The bell rings and fans start chanting for Ripley. They lock up and Baszler takes it to the ropes. The referee warns her and she backs off. Ripley takes Baszler down and talks some trash after Baszler tried to trick her. They trade more holds in the middle of the ring now. Rhea ends up blocking a Kirifuda Clutch but Baszler also blocks a submission. Rhea takes control with strikes and works Baszler around the ring. Baszler counters a suplex and rolls Rhea up for a quick pin attempt.
Rhea with a dropkick. Rhea charges with a big boot but misses and gets hung up on the top rope as Baszler moves. Baszler takes advantage and unloads on Ripley for a 2 count. Baszler keeps Rhea grounded now. Fans try to rally for Rhea as she fights to her feet and backdrops Baszler. Rhea misses a dropkick and Baszler comes from behind. More back and forth between the two. Baszler ends up on the top but Rhea jumps up with a dropkick, sending Baszler down to the floor on the outside.
Rhea goes out of the ring at the 5 count but Baszler hits her. Rhea drops Baszler from her shoulders, face-first into the steel ring steps. Rhea brings it back into the ring but here comes Marina Shafir into the ring. Ripley drops her. Jessamyn Duke is on the apron but she drops down to the floor when Rhea tells her to bring it. Baszler takes advantage and drops the distracted Ripley.
Duke slides a steel chair in to Baszler. Rhea blocks the chair shot. Rhea takes the chair and decks Baszler with it for the disqualification.
Winner by DQ: Shayna Baszler
– After the match, Rhea stands tall and yells out as fans chant her name. Duke and Shafir help Baszler up the ramp as she is announced the winner by DQ. Ripley looks on from the ring as fans boo the announcement. Rhea takes a seat in the chair in the middle of the ring, taunting the Horsewomen to come back into the ring for a fight. Baszler and crew look on from the stage as fans chant Rhea’s name. Rhea stands tall in the middle of the ring as her music hits.
– We cut to a pre-recorded video from The Undisputed Era – NXT Champion Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and NXT Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly. Cole say the prophecy will be fulfilled when NXT goes live on the USA Network as Strong will take the NXT North American Title from The Velveteen Dream, which will bring all the gold home to them. Strong talks more about Dream and the title shot. Cole says when they have all the gold, no one on the planet will be able to stop them, and that’s not a threat or a promise, that is undisputed. They pose together to end the segment.
– We get video packages for NXT on the USA Network, and the weekly NXT UK series. NXT goes off the air.
