On this weeks episode of NXT UK, we’re taking a look back at the rise of WWE’s first international brand. Andy Shepherd will be hosting this program and we’ll see a bevy of classic matches.

Andy Shepherd: These are very unique times, of course. Hopefully everyone is safe, healthy and home. But don’t worry! The next hour will look back to the very early days of this brand. We will look as that time over three years ago when the seeds of NXT UK were planted in the town that is now synonymous with the brand: Blackpool

First Match: Tyler Bate vs. Jordan Devlin in a Quarter-Final Round Match in the WWE UK Championship Tournament 

Devlin with a clubbing blow to the back of Bates neck immediately after the bell rings. Devlin stomps on Bates chest in the corner. Bate dumps Devlin to the outside. Bate with a suicide dive that sends Devlin crashing on the stage ramp. Bate rolls Devlin back into the ring. Devlin with a thumb to the eye of Bate behind the referee’s back. Devlin with a wrist lock takedown. Devlin stomps on Bates hand. Devlin goes into the ground and pound attack.

Devlin slaps Bate in the chest. Devlin with a hand bridge for a two count. Devlin continues to grapple around Bate. Bate monkey flips Devlin to the other side of the ring. Bate with a knee lift. Bate connects with a flying uppercut off the second rope. Bate goes for the Airplane Spin, but Devlin blocks it. Devlin goes for the Springboard Crossbody, but Bate counters with the Airplane Spin. Devlin falls to the ring apron.

Devlin uses the top rope for leverage. Devlin connects with a enziguri from the ring apron. Devlin goes for a Moonsault, but Bate ducks out of the way. Devlin connects with a leaping knee strike to the jaw of Bate for a two count. Devlin goes for another Moonsault, but again Bate ducks out of the way. Bate goes for the Tyler Driver 97, but Devlin counters with a rollup for a one count. Devlin with a spinning enziguri to the back of Bate’s head. Bate with the Pop and Bang to Devlin. Bate follows that up with The Tyler Driver 97 to pickup the victory.

Winner: Tyler Bate via Pinfall 

Andy Shepherd: It’s pretty amazing to think that it was just three years ago when the roots of NXT UK began to take hold. The reaction to the resurgence was undeniable. That original tournament set the table for so many in this new generation of UK wrestling, to an audience that continued to beg for more. It got to the point where British Wrestling couldn’t be held back any longer.

Second Match: Zack Gibson vs. Jack Gallagher in a Quarter-Final Match In The 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament 

Gibson refuses to shake hands with Gallagher. Collar and Elbow Tie Up. Gallagher applies a wrist lock. Roll Through escape by Gibson. Gallagher with a Wrist LockTake Down to Gibson. Gibson responds with a HeadScissors Neck Lock. Gibson is getting annoyed. Gibson with an arm-drag takeover. Gibson applies an arm-bar. Gallagher transitions into a side headlock. Gallagher leapfrogs over Gibson. Gallagher applies a hammer lock. Gallagher rolls Gibson over for a two count. Gallagher ducks a clothesline from Gibson. Gallagher is playing mind games with Gibson.

Gallagher applies a rear chin lock. Gibson gets back to a vertical base. Gallagher delivers multiple uppercuts. Gibson backs Gallagher into the ropes. Gibson dropkicks Gallagher. Gibson transitions into a ground and pound attack. Gibson with a crossface cover for a two count. Gibson drops Gallagher with a Ripcord Clothesline. Gibson follows that with a Basement Dropkick for a two count. Gibson applies a half nelson chin lock. Gallagher with shots to the midsection of Gibson. Gallagher goes for a Sunset Flip, but Gibson counters with an arm-ringer. Following a snap mare takeover, Gibson works on his joint manipulation game.

Gibson blasts Gallagher with a Back Elbow Smash. Gibson hits The Arm-Bar Suplex. Gibson is mauling Gallagher in the corner. Gibson whips Gallagher back first across the turnbuckles. Gibson applies another arm-bar. Gibson tells Gallagher to bring it. Gallagher with a Forearm Smash to Gibson. Gibson responds with an Ankle Pick. Gibson with a Grounded Clothesline for a two count. Gibson applies a Modified Chin Bar. Gallagher fires up with a flurry of strikes. Gibson kicks Gallagher in the gut. Gibson applies a Front Face Lock. Gallagher with a Snap Vertical Suplex. Gallagher follows that with The PK for a two count. Gibson drives Gallagher back first into the turnbuckles. Gibson gets Gallagher tied in the tree of woe. Gibson connects with The Ticket To Ride for a two count.

Gallagher dropkicks Gibson. Gallagher goes for a Gentleman’s Dropkick, but Gibson counters with a Running Liger Bomb. Gallagher locks in a Triangle Choke. Gibson BuckleBombs Gallagher. Gallagher applies a Roped Assisted Arm-Bar. Gallagher with a Senton Atomico to Gibson. Gallagher gets Gibson trapped in a Sleeper Hold. Gibson crawls to the bottom rope to create separation. Gallagher lands a Suicide Dive. Gallagher rolls Gibson back into the ring.

Gallagher delivers The Gentleman’s Dropkick for a two count. Gibson with a Double Throat Thrust to Gallagher. Gibson sends Gallagher crashing shoulder first into the steel ring post. Gallagher avoids the referee’s ten count. Gibson drops Gallagher with an Inside Out Lariat. Gibson follows that with another Ticket To Ride for a two count. Gallagher creates distance with a Desperation Dropkick. Gallagher goes for a Diving HeadButt, but Gibson gets his feet up in the air. Gibson locks in The Shankly Gates which forces Gallagher to tap out.

Winner: Zack Gibson via Submission 

Third Match: Mark Andrews vs. Joe Coffey w/Mark Coffey (From The Debut Episode Of NXT UK, October 17, 2018)

Standing Switch Exchange. Coffey with a waist lock takedown. Coffey applies a wrist lock. Coffey has the early strength advantage. Coffey with multiple pinning combinations. Andrews with an arm-drag takeover. Andrews follows that with a Hurricanrana. Coffey launches Andrews to the ring apron. Andrews with a Step Up Enzuigiri. Andrews with a SpringBoard Hurricanrana. Andrews applies a wrist lock. Andrews goes for an irish whip, but Coffey blocks it. Coffey is lighting up Andrews chest. Coffey with clubbing bodyshots. Coffey delivers The Pounce. Coffey with left jabs in the corner. Coffey with a Butterfly Swing. Coffey follows that with a Butterfly Suplex for a two count.

Coffey applies a straight jacket hold. Coffey decks Andrews with a back elbow smash. Coffey tosses Andrews out of the ring. Andrews is distracted by Mark Coffey. Joe Coffey attacks Andrews from behind. Coffey rolls Andrews back into the ring. Coffey goes for a Discus Forearm Smash, but Andrews counters with a Pump Kick. Andrews with a chop/forearm combination. Andrews starts teeing off on Coffey. Andrews thrust kicks the midsection of Coffey. Andrews ducks a clothesline from Coffey. Andrews with a Step Up Enzuigiri. Andrews with a Corner Meteora. Andrews with a Roll Through Driver.

Andrews connects with a Standing Corkscrew MoonSault for a two count. Coffey shoves Andrews to the corner. Andrews with another Step Up Enzuigiri. Coffey responds with a Pop Up European Uppercut. Coffey with a Diving HeadButt. Coffey levels Andrews with a Body Avalanche. Coffey with a Pop Up PowerSlam for a two count. Andrews turns a Delayed Vertical Suplex into The Slumdog Millionaire. Coffey is in the drop zone. Coffey heads to the outside. Andrews lands a Triangle MoonSault. Mark Coffey continues to run interference. Coffey with an Avalanche Belly to Belly Suplex. Coffey with a Discus Lariat to pickup the victory. After the match, The Coffey Brothers are beating down Andrews. Flash Morgan Webster makes the save.

Andy Shepherd: And we were off and running! From Cambridge to Birmingham to Plymouth to Liverpool, NXT UK was on the map! But the story of this brand is incomplete without the legacy of the Bruiserweight, Pete Dunne.

Fourth Match: Pete Dunne vs. Trent Seven. The Winner Will Battle Tyler Bate For The WWE United Kingdom Championship At NXT TakeOver: Chicago (Originally Aired: May 19, 2017, WWE United Kingdom Championship Special) 

Feeling out process after the bell rings. Seven backs Dunne into the turnbuckles. The referee calls for a clean break. Seven is keeping his injured right shoulder away from Dunne. Stalemate in the corner. Greco Roman Knuckle Lock. Dunne press his knee against Seven’s chin. Dunne works on his joint manipulation game. Dunne applies a simple wrist lock. Seven escapes the hold. Dunne signals for the test of strength. Seven blasts Dunne with a knife edge chop. Seven with a Running OverHand Chop. Seven whips Dunne across the ring. Dunne kicks Seven in the face. Seven clotheslines Dunne in mid-air for a one count. Seven applies a rear chin lock. Dunne with a waist lock go-behind. Dunne attacks the right shoulder of Seven. Seven heads to the outside. Dunne with a forearm smash. Dunne kicks the right shoulder of Seven in between the steel ring steps.

Dunne has complete control of the match. Dunne is tying Seven up in a knot. Dunne continues to work on the injured shoulder of Seven. Seven reaches the bottom rope to force the break. Dunne with a double foot stomp. Dunne kicks Seven in the face for a two count. Seven unloads two knife edge chops. Seven follows that with a Fake Out DDT. Seven lands The Suicide Dive. Seven plays to the crowd. Seven rolls Dunne back into the ring. Dunne with a running shoulder kick. Dunne toys around with Seven. Dunne goes for The Bitter End, but Seven lands back on his feet. Dunne negates The Seven Star Lariat. Seven drops Dunne with The Western Lariat for a two count. Dunne responds with a Snap German Suplex. Seven hits The Emerald Flowsion for a two count. Seven regains his stamina in the corner. Dunne sends Seven shoulder first into the steel ring post.

Dunne with a Back Drop Driver. Dunne connects with The X-Plex for a two count. Dunne applies The Kimura Lock. Seven crawls to the bottom rope to create separation. Dunne sends Seven shoulder first into the ringside barricade. Dunne snaps the digits of Seven. Dunne repeatedly kicks Seven in the face. Seven drills Dunne with The Dragon Suplex on the ring apron. Both superstars avoids the referee’s ten count. Dunne with clubbing elbow smashes. Seven with a blistering chop. Seven goes for an Avalanche Dragon Suplex, but Dunne lands back on his feet. Dunne with a forearm smash. Seven answers with a back fist. Dunne with a Step Up Enzuigiri. Seven drops Dunne with an Inside Out Lariat for a two count. Seven goes for The Seven Star Lariat, but Dunne counters with The Kimura Lock. Seven refuses to quit. Seven with a Snap Dragon Suplex. Seven follows that with a Spinning Back Fist. Seven goes for The Burning Hammer, but Dunne lands back on his feet. Dunne plants Seven with The Bitter End to pickup the victory.

Winner: Pete Dunne via Pinfall 

– The show closes with Pete Dunne reflecting on historic WWE United Kingdom Championship Reign and being a major pillar for the NXT UK Brand. Dunne called his match with Tyler Bate at NXT TakeOver Chicago the biggest night of his career. Dunne expressed his gratitude for being able to main event the very first NXT UK TakeOver Event.
