WWE Posts Storyline Injury Update on Dexter Lumis, His Takeover Status

A storyline injury update has been issued on WWE NXT Superstar Dexter Lumis.

As noted before, last week’s NXT Injury Report video stated that Lumis suffered an osteochondral lesion of the talus during the Triple Threat main event, which saw Lumis defeat Finn Balor and Timothy Thatcher to earn a spot in the Ladder Match for the vacant NXT North American Title at the upcoming “Takeover: XXX” event.

WWE announced on Tuesday night that the Lumis storyline ankle injury is worse than previously reported. The update noted that the injury is raising some questions around Lumis’ status for the Ladder Match at Takeover. WWE is promising an update on The Bump and the NXT USA Network episode.

There’s no word yet on if Lumis will be replaced in the match. He currently joins Bronson Reed as the first two confirmed entrants. Another Triple Threat qualifier will air later tonight with Ridge Holland vs. Oney Lorcan vs. Damian Priest.

Stay tuned for updates on the Lumis storyline injury. Below is WWE’s full announcement:
