As noted, today’s WWE TV tapings at the Performance Center in Orlando started late as the company waited for test results from Tuesday’s COVID-19 tests to come in for employees. The tapings were described as a “full blown clusterfuck” with no leadership, and it was said that the company should be embarrassed. In another note from the tapings, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that people at the Performance Center were told not to take photos of their testing, or of people hanging around outside of the building waiting for their results. There’s no official word on what this order relates to, but it’s worth noting. This comes after MVP and Mojo Rawley have both made tweets on their actual test and the results, seen here and here.
It was also noted that some of the talent actually did find out about the positive COVID-19 test before the public did on Monday night.
As we’ve noted, it was reported by multiple sources that wrestlers found out about the recent positive coronavirus test by a WWE NXT developmental trainee on Monday night when WWE issued a public statement. Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer that those reports are not entirely true as WWE did send out a mass text message informing people of the positive test shortly before the public statement to the media.
Alvarez explained that the main roster communications are done differently from the developmental communications, so it’s possible that one of the groups received the mass text on the positive test result, and another group didn’t, which would explain the original reports. There’s still no word on who tested positive, but it’s said that this was a developmental trainee and not someone who is on NXT TV. They were last at the venue on Tuesday, June 9, when there was a set of NXT TV tapings.
