WWE Trainees Reportedly Frustrated Over Recent Taping, No Extra Pay for Crowd Work

As noted, the Backlot Brawl between The Velveteen Dream and WWE NXT Champion Adam Cole for Sunday’s “Takeover: In Your House” event was taped last Thursday night.

The match reportedly did not tape until around midnight and the trainees used as fans were not happy about how things went down. Fightful Select reports that recruits were called in for the match and asked to show up at 7, but rain in the area forced delays and most everyone waited around until midnight before the Dream vs. Cole match actually taped.

This came after three straight days of tapings, with talents on their feet for around 10 hours during those tapings.

It was also reported that the trainees and coaches being used as “fans” in the crowd are not getting paid extra for their time. WWE has continued classes for recruits amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but usually these classes involve digital tape studies with Performance Center coaches.
