Winner: Ricky Starks

Rating: **1/2. Really good story told between the wrestlers here. Some awkward moments but the action was strong and the right guy win. Jericho doing good business.

Match #2: Final Burial: Jungle Boy Jack Perry vs. Christian Cage

There is a casket to the left of the stage, and to my understanding, you’ve got to throw your opponent in there and close the lid. Brawl to start! Fighting on the outside now as Jericho heads to the crowd to evade a charging Jungle Boy. Both men are fighting through the crowd now, as Jungle Boy dumps a beer on Cage and kicks him down some stairs. Both guys find their way back to the ring as Jungle Boy mounts Cage in the corner, but Cage grabs Jungle Boy by the hair and yanks him down. Cage with some ground and pound from mount now. Back to the outside as Jungle Boy sends Cage flying into the steel steps and bounces his head off of it. Cage looks to double stomp Cage’s hand on top of the steps, but Cage swipes out the feet and Jungle Boy lands HARD on the steel. Cage takes Jungle Boy’s belt off and whips him at ringside, right in front of his family. Up to the top of the ramp now, as Cage takes the chairs out of the casket he apparently left there. Back body drop by Cage on the steel steps as he looks for the Impaler on the unfolded chair! Jungle Boy shoves Cage off and follows with a running somersault senton to the floor! Jungle Boy grabs a chair and looks to attack Cage , but Cage hits a low blow! Cage now bounces Jungle Boy’s head off of the casket a bunch and lays him in the casket. Cage looks for the ConChairTo, but Jungle Boy fights back with a shovel! Both men take turns strangling each other with the shovel but Cage gouges the eyes. Cage looks to finish Jungle Boy off with the shovel but Jungle Boy trips him up and locks in the Snare Trap on the ramp! Jungle Boy uses the handle of the shovel in the mouth and Cage goes out! ConChairTo by Jungle Boy, finally and Cage is done for. Jungle Boy rolls him in the casket and shuts the lid!

Winner: Jungle Boy Jack Perry

Rating: ***1/2. I enjoyed the story of this match more so than the match, and I enjoyed the match. Jungle Boy digging down deep and going to a place he didn’t want to have to go to is a great story, and no matter how you slice it, Christian did take Jungle Boy to a different level. Glad to finally close the book on this blood feud, but it’s nice to have closure.

Rating: ****1/2. Good gosh almighty Joe Friday. What an unbelievable match. The Elite gave everything to the House of Black, and these men looked like STARS tonight. Brody King especially, what a showcase. Also, let’s get Malakai vs. Omega as soon as possible. More of these guys, please. Winner: Hangman Page

Rating: ****1/2. Did they overuse the plunder? Sure. Do I care? Also, no. Both of these dudes left everything they had in the ring after an unbelievably brutal, physical match. Page proved he’s as tough as they come, and hopefully, Moxley has earned his vacation. Moxley tapping out, however, is something I did not expect. Great, great fight.

Wardlow charges to start but Joe takes to the outside to get back in control. Back in the ring and Wardlow hits his version of Whisper in the Wind… which is insane because this man is a house. Wardlow pulls Joe to the ground, gets the hooks in.. and Joe goes out!

Winner and NEW AEW TNT Champion: Wardlow

Rating: **1/2. This was a fine big-man match, that was put in a very tough spot. Much like the AEW Women’s World Championship match from earlier, these two were asked to follow something special, and the crowd just wasn’t ready for it. Joe getting choked out was not on my bingo card for tonight, that’s for sure.

Winners and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Gunn Club

Rating: ***1/4. Lots of moving parts in this match, which was absolutely all over the place. The Gunn’s getting a big win very much validates them as a tag team, and while the people hate it, it’s the right move. Lots of gimmickery here, which is okay, because we haven’t seen that tonight. Good tag team stuff.

The Gunn’s are with Renee. Colten and Austin say they’ve beaten everyone, and who’s an ass boy now?

ENTER FTR!

Spike piledriver to Colten! Big Rig to Austin! Crowd is going bananas!

Match #8. AEW World Heavyweight Championship: MJF (c) vs. Bryan Danielson

MJF gets a full orchestral entrance while wearing a devil’s mask. Awesome. Danielson makes MJF work early, fighting out of submissions left and right. Both men exchange holds here as MJF gets frustrated and gets to the outside. MJF takes a woman’s drink and throws it in her son’s face in a hilariously evil maneuver. MJF gets in the ring, and then bails yet again. “Oh no, is that going to cost me a star, Dave? Maybe I won’t win the Bryan Danielson award” – MJF to the camera. Winner and STILL AEW World Heavyweight Champion: MJF

Rating: ****3/4. Welp. They did it. A 70+ minute match that had the fans buying in to every single fall, every hold, every move. The story made so much sense. Danielson tried to wrestle and force MJF to keep his pace, and I’ll be damned if MJF didn’t do just that. Step for step, these two took us all on a ride. MJF proved that he can go sixty and then some. Danielson loses nothing by tapping out, especially after getting brained with the oxygen tank. The following promos from MJF will be insufferable in the best. way.

Final Thoughts: The in-ring product is never the worry for AEW, it’s the inconsistencies in the storylines and sometimes, even a lack of a story. Tonight, not only delivered in the ring, but outside of it as well. The Elite/House of Black, Moxley/Hangman, and MJF/Danielson are all well worth your time so stop what you’re going and go watch them. The match was a buffet of wrestling, from brutality (Moxley/Page), big men slapping meat (Wardlow/Joe), high flying (Elite/House of Black), technical wrestling (MJF/Danielson), really something for everyone. Also, a lot of veterans making stars tonight, as Jericho lost to Starks, MJF tapped out Danielson, Moxley tapped out to Page, Joe tapping to Wardlow., Christian getting buried by Jungle Boy, etc. The future looks bright for AEW. 9/10.
