Mustafa Ali On Raw Talk: “The Criminal Justice System As A Whole Is Designed To Profit Not Protect”

WWE star Mustafa Ali appeared on Raw Talk following his return to action on last night’s Monday Night Raw. When asked to comment on his various movements for social justice Ali, who was a police officer for four years in Chicago, speaks about the criminal just system needed a complete overhaul.

You have to speak especially when it’s the right thing to do. A lot of people don’t know this but I have four years of experience as a police officer. I was there…I saw it…I understand it, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that no real change will happen until we change the criminal injustice system as a whole.

Ali later reveals that the earliest inception of the police department was created to capture runaway slaves. He adds on that the entire system has been built for prophet and not protection.

When you have something that is designed from its inception to target a certain demographic, a certain group of people…it’s hard to shed ties of that, and the criminal justice system as a whole is designed to profit…not protect, and there in lies the issue.

I went into #RawTalk with the intention of talking about my return and all the work I put in to make that happen. But anytime I have the opportunity to talk about #BlackLivesMatter and police reform, I will.”
