Opening Segment: Tyler Breeze vs. Jaxson Ryker w. Forgotten Sons

Highlights include:

After some back and forth to open the match, Breeze flies at Ryker who catches him with the forearm and slams him down. He follows it up with a running knee as Breeze sat catching his breath against the turnbuckle. Pendulum backbreaker for a 2 count.

Another backbreaker by Ryker and Breeze is feeling the punishment. Ryker leaves Breeze a little long though and he nails Ryker with some dropkicks. Surprise rollup! 1-2-3! Breeze gets the win.

Winner: Tyler Breeze via pinfall in 4 minutes

Immediately after the match, Forgotten Sons surround Breeze who throws the first punch. Cutler and Blake jump on him, and then send him to Ryker for a powerbomb.

Suddenly, the fans begin to cheer…it’s Fandango in street clothes! He upends all 3 of the Forgotten Sons, sending them flying over the top ropes. Stereo superkicks on Cutler!

Is Breezango back together? It looks like it!

1 cool point for Breeze because he was beaten up for most of this match, but still managed to get the win. Furthermore, his tag partner has returned from injury, clearing house with him, and this is good news for both guys.

1 cool point for Ryker because, as much as people have been down on him, he takes care of business in the ring. Strong performance.

Last week, Io Shirai was attacked by Candice LeRae during the match with Kacy Catanzaro. LeRae got the best of Shirai, even threatening to hit her with a chair. We see LeRae outside Full Sail as the nXt Breakout Tournament Semi-Finals match is promoted.

Second Segment: Bronson Reed vs. Cameron Grimes (nXt Breakout Tournament Semi-Final)

Highlights include:

Reed shows off his mass by throwing Grimes off the ropes and allowing Grimes’ momentum to crash into Reed’s chest to the mat.

As Grimes tries to get some offense in, Reed hits a back elbow. He transitions to slaps to the chest, a shoulder thrust and then clobbers Grimes to the mat.
Grimes evades a charge from Reed, bounces off the ropes and nails Reed with a lariat. Reed falls to the mat. 1-2- kickout!

Grimes with an armbar. Reed returns to his feet. Grimes counters a scoop slam, runs the ropes…POWERSLAM from Reed!

Reed’s in control after a body avalanche in the corner. Samoan Drop. Massive senton splash! 1-2-…Grimes lifts his leg on to the bottom rope for a rope break.

Jumping forearm by Grimes. They trade kicks and forearms. Reed runs both ropes but Grimes rushes and meets him unexpectedly off the last set of ropes with double knees to the head! It’s over.

Winner: Cameron Grimes via pinfall in 5 minutes

Grimes faces Jordan Myles in the Breakout Tourney Finals in 2 weeks at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The winner chooses an nXt Championship Title to fight for.

1 cool point for Reed and Grimes. In a short match, they showcased enough unique offense to make the match interesting with a surprising finish. I would have happily seen either guy in the final, and I hope that Reed gets another chance on nXt TV. Grimes might win this tournament… He’d be a good match against Cole or Dream.

Earlier today, Matt Riddle was asked if he was training for a match against the returning Killian Dain. Riddle said Dain should fight him face to face instead of attacking him from behind. That match will happen next week on nXt TV.

Third Segment: Baszler Calls Out The Women’s Division

Baszler replies to Mia Yim who attacked Duke and Shafir from behind, in successive weeks. Baszler says this is not a street or back alley; this is the biggest, professional stage of your entire career. She’s going to put Yim to sleep in front of tens of thousands of fans. Street rats don’t survive long in her world.

Cue Yim’s music.

Yim asks if Baszler is scared as she walks down the ramp. She enters the ring and says game recognizes game…and Baszler’s looking real unfamiliar right now. Yim has everything to gain. This street rat is bringing a fight she can’t train for.
Fans get behind Yim’s remarks.

Baszler says Yim is under the lights now and everyone will see she’s nothing but street trash.

The two jaw at one another a bit before Baszler leaves the ring. So we officially have an nXt Women’s Championship match for Toronto.

nXt General Manager William Regal meets with Candice LeRae outside. He says Shirai won’t be there tonight; she was told to stay away. Regal doesn’t blame her though and she asks for a match at Takeover: Toronto. Regal says yes and that brings the card to 5 matches.

Main Event: Roderick Strong vs. Pete Dunne

Highlights include:

Vicious chops between Strong and Dunne about 3 minutes in, after a little mat wrestling and counters from each wrestler.

Big stomp by Dunne on Strong’s elbow after he placed Strong’s left hand on the mat. Commentators play up the pain factor on that, due to Strong’s already-injured hand.

Torture rack hold by Strong. He throws Dunne up, lands on his back and holds up his knees for a backbreaker.

Dunne with leg kicks. He goes to the ropes. Strong meets him with a dropkick! 1-2- kickout by Dunne. Strong continues to unleash punishment with chops and punches. One of them lands on Dunne to knock him to the mat in the corner.

Both men grapple on the top turnbuckle. Strong can’t get the superplex. Dunne nails him with a missile dropkick, landing hard on his back. Both men are out as the fans clap.

Dunne with a step-up enziguri, X-Plex and then a penalty kick! 1-2- Strong gets the shoulder up. Quite a series there from the former nXt UK Champion.

Standing switch by Strong. Dunne flips out of the suplex attempt, lands on his feet and then connects with a sit-out powerbomb! 1-2- NO! Strong kicks out.

Strong on the apron. Dunne on the top turnbuckle. Strong wrenches Dunne on to the apron, lower back first. Now it’s all Strong, all backbreakers, but he cannot get a 3 count!

Forearm smashes by Strong. Enziguri from Dunne. Strong with the Olympic Slam! He tries another one, but Dunne reverses it into a poppin’ DDT.
Dunne with a flurry of strikes and stomps brings him back into the match. He sits up on the top turnbuckle where Strong meets him. Kicks send Strong to the mat.

Shortly thereafter, both men up on the top turnbuckle together. Dunne with a super sunset flip powerbomb attempt, but it didn’t quite go. Pumphandle attempt, but Strong jumps out of it and hits Dunne with a knee strike! Tiger driver! 1-2- quick switch to the Stronghold submission.

Dunne begins to tweak Strong’s hand and transition to a triangle submission. He rolls over and begins snapping Strong’s fingers, which causes Strong to tap out.

Winner: Pete Dunne via submission in 16 minutes

2 cool points for Dunne. His return match to nXt TV earns him a big win and a lot of face time going into TakeOver: Toronto. Seeing him get the win with the finger manipulation was pretty cool, as it has become a highlight of his matches.

1 cool point for Strong. He wrestled a fine match, with moments of success with his backbreaker and kick-based offense. Even with the length of this one, it just didn’t seem like a match he was going to win. This was Dunne’s showcase, which may suggest Strong’s placement in the triple threat in Toronto may not lead him to a title victory.
