WWE Elimination Chamber Results 2/18/2023

– The 2023 WWE Elimination Chamber Kickoff pre-show opens up with Kayla Braxton welcoming us to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She’s joined by Wade Barrett, Kevin Patrick, and Peter Rosenberg. The “ole!” chants are already going for Sami Zayn as fans find their seats in the arena. Kayla sends well wishes to WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler, who can’t be here tonight due to his recent health issue. Rosenberg says it doesn’t feel like the same Kickoff without him, but Kayla says they will make him proud. The panel goes over tonight’s card now. We go to a video package for the Elimination Chamber.

The panel discusses the Women’s Chamber match now and we see the Chamber structure hanging high above the ring. Barrett predicts Raquel Rodriguez to win, while Patrick goes with Carmella and Rosenberg picks Asuka. Back from a break and we get a video for WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley. Barrett predicts The Grit Couple will win, while Patrick agrees, and Rosenberg goes with The Judgment Day. Back from a break and we get a video package for Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley. Barrett and Patrick predict Lashley to win, while Rosenberg goes with Lesnar.

Kayla shows us the video on Montreal’s wrestling history and Sami Zayn’s journey to the match with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, which was narrated and written by Ariel Helwani. We get a video on tonight’s Men’s Elimination Chamber now. Byron Saxton is backstage with WWE United States Champion Austin Theory. He insults tonight’s challengers and says he is the now, and they are just lucky they get to experience him live. Theory laughs and walks of. We see the Chamber structure down over the ring now as the panel discusses the Chamber rules and tonight’s United States Title match. Barrett predicts Bronson Reed to win, while Patrick believes Seth Rollins win, and Rosenberg goes with Montez Ford.

Back from a break and the panel runs down tonight’s card one more time. We go to a lengthy video package for Zayn vs. Reigns with a look at what led to this match. Ariel Helwani joins the panel to discuss Zayn vs. Reigns and some of the Montreal wrestling history. Kayla hypes the Women’s Elimination Chamber and that’s it for the Kickoff pre-show.

– The 2023 WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event opens up with a video package for tonight’s matches, set to “Psycho In My Head” by Skillet. We’re now live from a sold out Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as Michael Cole welcomes us. He’s joined at ringside by Corey Graves. Cole brings up the 1997 Montreal Screwjob and says the city needs tonight to be different. We go right to the ring for tonight’s Chamber opener.

Elimination Chamber Match for a RAW Women’s Title Shot: Asuka vs. Nikki Cross vs. Liv Morgan vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya vs. Carmella

The Elimination Chamber structure is already down over the ring as Samantha Irvin begins the introductions. The music hits and out first comes Asuka to a big pop. The winner of this match will challenge RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 39. Asuka makes her way out and into the Chamber. Asuka shakes the steel and plays to the crowd before entering her pod. Carmella is out next, moon-walking before entering the Chamber. Carmella taunts Asuka and then enters her pod. Raquel Rodriguez is out next. Rodriguez also taunts her opponents before she’s locked inside her own pod. Nikki Cross is out next and she’s fired up as she runs to the Chamber. Cross stops to taunt each opponent before she’s locked in. Natalya is out next to a pop from her home country, and she will start the match. Natalya visits her opponents, including Cross, who is sitting down rocking in her pod. Liv Morgan is out last to start things with Natalya, and she also stops to pay each opponent a visit.

The Chamber is locked up and the bell hits as Liv and Natalya size each other up. Natalya with a headlock takedown to start. Natalya drops Liv with a shoulder. They run the ropes and Natalya rolls Liv for 2. Liv with a 2 count of her own. They face off and smile at each other.

Natalya takes it to the steel and sends Liv in face-first. Liv sends Natalya into the steel over and over now. Liv with a double stomp to the back on the steel. Liv puts Natalya’s head through the steel and works her over as she screams out. Liv charges but Natalya moves and she hits Cross’ pod.

Natalya sends Liv back into a pod for a pop, then she sends her crashing into the edge of the pod again. Fans chant “one more time!” and Natalya gives them what they want. Natalya keeps control and chokes Liv with the steel now. The timer counts down and here comes Raquel.

Rodriguez unloads and lays Natalya out, then clotheslines her back down. Raquel fights Liv off and slams Natalya face-first into the mat. Raquel with a splash to both opponents in the corner, then she launches Natalya across the ring, then hits a fall-away slam to Liv for a pop. Raquel with a running big boot to Natalya. Raquel scoops Natalya to her shoulders and rams her into the steel wall a few times. Raquel scoops Natalya, then catches Liv for a double slam but Natalya turns it into a sunset flip into the steel, and they all go down.

Natalya brings Liv back into the ring for a Sharpshooter but Liv kicks her of. Natalya with a counter by the legs. Liv counters a submission with a roll-up for r2. Liv with a big kick. Raquel catches the Ob-Livion and Liv is hit with a double team with Natalya also taking Raquel down with double knees for 2. The timer counts down and in comes Cross.

Cross attacks Natalya, Raquel, then Liv. Cross continues running wild on all opponents but Raquel sends her face-first into the ring post. Raquel gets sent into the post now. Cross tosses Natalya to the steel next to Raquel. Liv knees Cross but misses the enziguri. Cross tosses Liv out to the steel with the others now. Cross catapults Liv face-first into a pod. Cross takes Natalya out, then rams Raquel into the steel a few times. Cross grinds Raquel’s face into the steel now. Cross grinds Raquel’s face into Carmella’s glass now and Carmella taunts her.

Cross climbs the steel now as fans pop. Cross is on top of Carmella’s pod. Cross finally takes off her ring jacket, then leaps off the pod to take down the other three opponents on the steel. Fans pop. Natalya and Liv stumble into the ring. Cross sits up and laughs, waving at the crowd. The timer counts down and in comes Carmella now. She covers Liv for 2, then covers Natalya for 2.

Carmella yells at Asuka in her pod. Carmella then shuts herself back into her pod as fans boo. Cross taunts her but turns around to Raquel driving her into Carmella’s pod, shattering the glass. Carmella then locks herself into another pod as a “holy shit!” chant starts up. Raquel covers Cross for the pin. Cross has been eliminated.

Raquel turns around to a second rope Codebreaker by Liv for 2. Liv crawls the cage, leaving Natalya and Raquel to go at it. Raquel rams Natalya into the corner. They fight in the corner and Raquel stomps away on Natalya now. Liv suddenly leaps off Asuka’s pod with a huge Sunset Bomb to Raquel. Carmella rushes in to cover Raquel for a 2 count. The timer counts down and in comes Asuka to a big pop. Asuka chases Carmella into a pod and unloads as fans pop.

Asuka kicks Carmella and grinds her face into the steel. Asuka with more big strikes to Carmella. Asuka kicks a pod and limps after Carmella ducks. Asuka chases her and hits a sliding kick. Asuka with a German suplex to Carmella. Asuka and Raquel face off with fans chanting for Asuka. Raquel levels her. Asuka with an Octopus stretch now. Asuka ends up dropping Raquel but Liv nails a missile dropkick to Asuka for 2. Liv blocks a Natalya powerbomb and hits a Codebreaker. Liv with the Ob-Livion but Carmella intercepts and gets rocked. Natalya with the Sharpshooter to Liv. Liv goes for the steel but Natalya pulls her back. Asuka with a submission to Liv while she’s still in the Sharpshooter as Liv fades. The referee calls it and Liv has been eliminated.

Natalya smiles at Asuka but they go at it. Natalya with the Sharpshooter but Carmella kicks Natalya in the head. Carmella covers Natalya for the pin. Natalya has been eliminated.

We’re down to Carmella, Asuka and Raquel now. Carmella ends up pinning Raquel after they all go at it. Carmella then nails a big kick to Asuka for a 2 count. Carmella yells about going to WrestleMania. Asuka catches a superkick and applies an ankle lock but Carmella resists. They trade pin attempts. Asuka with the Asuka Lock now as fans pop. Carmella taps out for the pin to win and advance to WrestleMania 39.

Winner and New #1 Contender to RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair: Asuka

– After the match, the music hits as Asuka stands tall to a big pop. Cole confirms Asuka vs. Belair at WrestleMania 39 for the RAW Women’s Title as Asuka points up at the WrestleMania sign. We go to replays. Asuka continues her celebration.

– Back from a break and we get a video package for the next match.

Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley

We go back to the ring and out first comes Bobby Lashley as Mike Rome does the introductions. Lashley hits the ring and poses in the corner as pyro goes off. Out next comes Brock Lesnar to a big pop and he’s all business tonight. Lesnar bounces around on the stage, then the pyro goes off and he marches to the ring. Lesnar doesn’t smile until he gets to ringside.

The bell rings and Lesnar rams Lashley into the corner, hits him with big thrusts, then a huge belly-to-belly suplex for a pop. Lesnar with more big corner thrusts, then knee strikes to the gut. Lesnar clotheslines Lashley to the floor.

Lesnar follows and beats Lashley some, then rolls him back in. Lashley meets Lesnar with a big Spear for a 2 count. Lashley waits for Lesnar to get up, then hits a second Spear. Lashley stalks Lesnar and goes for The Hurt Lock but Lesnar resists. Lesnar over-powers and nails the F5 for a close 2 count in the middle of the ring.

Lesnar limps a bit but he’s up first. Lesnar goes for a second F5 and he hits it. Lashley kicks out just in time. Fans chant “one more time!” for the F5. Lesnar is up and he plays to the crowd for a big pop. Lashley blocks the F5 and hits a third Spear. Fans boo as Lashley yells at Lesnar to get up.

Lashley goes for The Hurt Lock again and this time it’s locked in. Lesnar resists but the submission is applied as the referee checks on Lesnar. Fans rally and Lesnar tries to break free but Lashley keeps it locked in. Lesnar starts to fade but he nails a low blow kick and Lashley goes down. The referee calls the match to boos.

Winner by DQ: Bobby Lashley

– After the match, Lashley’s music hits. Lesnar talks to referee Chad Patton and then drops him with the F5 for a big pop. Lesnar then delivers another F5 to Lashley. Lesnar brings Lashley to the floor, then takes apart the announce table. Lesnar puts Lashley through the table with another F5 as fans pop. Fans chant “holy shit!” as Lesnar smiles. Lesnar then grabs the referee and tosses him onto what’s left of the announce table with another F5. We go to replays and then Lesnar makes his exit.

– Back from a break and we see two fired up Montrealers in the front row – journalist Ariel Helwani and UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre. Cole refers to Helwani as world renowned and unbiased, which may be a dig at the tweets made by AEW President Tony Khan on Friday night.

– We get a video package for the next match.

Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley

We go back to the ring for mixed tag team action and out first comes The Judgment Day – Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley with Dominik Mysterio. Damian Priest is staying in the back to prepare for his match. WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Beth Phoenix are out next to a big pop. Edge runs around the stage as Phoenix looks on. They then pose together as the pyro goes off.

The Canadian crowd sings Edge’s theme. Phoenix is paying tribute to Bull Nakano with her face paint. Edge and Balor lock up to start. Balor drops Edge with a shoulder, then flexes to Beth. Balor turns around to Edge unloading on him.

Edge mounts Balor in the corner with right hands as fans count along. Beth tags in and they double team Balor. Ripley tags in to boos. They face off as Ripley talks trash and thy shove each other. They lock up and stay there. A clothesline does nothing to Beth, and vice-versa. Ripley talks more trash and tries again. Beth tells her to eat this bitch. They go at it and collide with more clothesline attempts. Ripley rocks Beth with a forearm and more punches. Dominik whispers something to Ripley from the apron and fans boo.

Fans chant “fuck you Dominik!” now it appears. Beth and Rhea lock up with a test of strength now. Ripley kicks Beth but can’t hit the Riptide. Beth dodges a clothesline and drops Ripley to send her to the floor for a breather. Beth stalks Dominik but turns around to deck Ripley. Beth chops Ripley and whips her into the steel ring steps as Dominik looks on.

Beth drops Rhea and goes to the top but Dominik distracts her from the apron, which causes Beth to lose her balance. Edge runs over at Dominik but Dominik retreats through the crowd. Rhea laughs and turns Beth upside down in the corner in a Tree of Woe, then kicks her. Fans sing “goodbye!” to Dominik as we see how Edge dropped Balor, allowing Dominik to escape.

Dominik comes back down the entrance-way to boos. Fans continue to chant “fuck you Dominik!” as Rhea and Beth go at it. Ripley stops a tag as Edge reaches. Beth counters and drops Ripley with a big DDT.

Balor goes under the ring, then comes crawling out on the other side, yanking Edge to the floor and lying him out to prevent a tag. Ripley decks Beth as she realizes she’s on her own. Beth dodges the Riptide, then rams Ripley into the turnbuckles. The heat for Dominik continues. Beth rocks Ripley up top but looks for a tag and Edge is still down on the floor. Beth chops Rhea and climbs up for a superplex. Ripley fights back but Beth takes control for a huge superplex as Dominik looks on. Beth is down clutching her back but fans pop big. Ripley is also clutching her lower back.

Balor drags Beth back but Beth kicks Ripley into him. Edge tags in and unloads on Balor to a big pop. Edge with signature offense but Balor takes him down and hits a stomp. Edge counters and applies a submission in the middle of the ring. Rhea runs in but Beth drops her. Beth applies the Edge-ucator while Edge has the same hold applied to Balor. The referee stops Dominik from running in as fans boo.

Ripley gets free and drops Beth with a headbutt. Dominik slides brass knuckles to Rhea, and she decks Edge with them. Rhea helps Balor lay on Edge for the close 2 count as Beth leaps over to break the pin up just in time. Beth knocks Rhea off the apron now. Beth mounts Rhea with right hands on the floor. Balor mounts Edge with punches in the ring as fans boo. Balor goes to the top but Beth sends Dominik into the ropes to crotch Balor, preventing the Coup de Grace. Dominik was arguing with the referee when hit, but now he falls to the floor.

Edge rocks Balor in the corner. Beth powerbombs Balor from the top while Rhea powerbombs Edge from the top in stereo. Rhea and Beth face off now and collide. Everyone is down now.

Dominik positions the steel ring steps and Rhea puts Beth down on them head-first. Dominik hands a steel chair to Rhea now. Balor makes Edge watch as Rhea goes for the Con-Chair-To but Beth breaks free. Beth sends Rhea into the steps, then nails a big Glam Slam on the floor. Edge takes advantage of Balor being shocked, then drops Balor with the Edge-ucution, then hits a big suicide dive to Dominik on the floor.

Edge yells out now for a pop, then enters the ring for a Spear but Balor intercepts him with a Slingblade. Balor runs for the corner dropkick but Edge meets him with a Spear. Beth rushes in and they hit the Shatter Machine on Balor. Edge covers for the pin to win.

Winners: Edge and Beth Phoenix

– After the match, the music hits as Edge and Beth recover to stand together. We go to replays. Dominik regroups with Balor and Ripley at ringside as they try to recover. Edge taunts them from the ring. Balor is seething as he threatens Edge. The Grit Couple goes back to the corner to pose and continue their celebration.

– Back from a break and the announcers plug tonight’s post-show press conference.

– We see Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in his locker room suit with Paul Heyman. There are C4 energy drinks on display, and Reigns is drinking one. C4 is a sponsor of tonight’s show. Heyman hypes Reigns up and says Montreal is now his city, not Sami Zayn’s, and tonight the city will become Reigns’ centerpiece of The Island of Relevancy. Fans boo. Reigns continues sipping his C4.

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE United States Title: Seth Rollins vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Bronson Reed vs. Montez Ford vs. Damian Priest vs. Austin Theory

We go back to the ring for tonight’s Men’s Elimination Chamber Match as Mike Rome goes over the basics. Out first comes WWE United States Champion Austin Theory, who is defending his title in the Chamber tonight. Theory hands his title over and enters his pod as fans boo. Montez Ford is out next with a red Solo cup in hand. The cups then fall from the rafters as Ford heads to the ring to a pop. Theory talks some trash before Ford enters his pod. Bronson Reed is out next. Reed points at Theory, then does his pose in the ring. Reed also points at Ford before entering his pod. Damian Priest is out next by himself. Priest, wearing a crown, stops outside of the Chamber structure and takes it all in. Priest enters as Theory talks trash. Priest stops at Ford and Reed, then poses in the ring before entering his own pod. Johnny Gargano is out next to start the match. Gargano walks right past Theory, bumps Ford’s pod with a cage, then poses in the ring before being locked into his pod. Seth Rollins is out last to start things with Gargano. Fans begin singing Rollins’ theme as he struts to the ring. Rollins taunts Theory first, then enters the ring to pose for a pop. Rollins continues playing to the crowd as the music stops but they’re still singing.

The Chamber is locked as Rollins and Gargano size each other up. Fans are still singing Rollins’ theme. They lock up and trade arm holds. They go back & forth on the mat and have a stalemate as fans do dueling chants. They size each other up again and trade holds and counters.

Gargano misses a kick and Rollins misses a stomp. They trade pin attempts and more mat action. Gargano slingshots himself in from the steel but Rollins can’t hit the Pedigree. Rollins is sent to the steel platform and Gargano launches himself through the ropes with a big thrust to take Rollins down on the steel. The timer counts down and here comes Theory.

Theory drops Gargano with a high knee, then sends Rollins into the steel. Theory clotheslines Rollins into the ring, then grinds Gargano’s face into the steel wall. Theory works Rollins over and stomps him. Theory sends Gargano face-first into a pod. Theory shows off to boos now. Theory rocks Rollins and catches him in a side-slam. Theory rocks Gargano and drops him on the steel to stop him from coming in the ring.

Theory mocks Rollins fans but Rollins fights back with right hands now. Gargano and Rollins take turns on Theory with punches now. They both drop Theory. Fans sing Rollins’ theme as Theory pleads. Theory tries to turn Gargano on Rollins so they can work together. Gargano drops Theory instead for a pop. Theory locks himself into a pod and stops Gargano from getting in. Rollins is on the other side of the pod. Theory turns around to Rollins attacking him and beating hi up in the pod. They lock themselves in the pod with Theory now and unload on him with the double team.

The timer counts down and in comes Priest. Priest with strong offense on Rollins and Gargano, taking turns in opposite corners. Priest with a Broken Arrow to Gargano. Priest flies but Rollins boots him in mid-air. Priest blocks a Pedigree and drops Rollins face-first with an inverted Bulldog. Priest with a big Flatliner to Gargano for 2.

Rollins blocks a chokeslam but Priest kicks him on the way down. Priest plants Rollins face-first for a 2 count. Theory wants to stand with Priest now as he comes out of his pod but Priest levels him with a kick to the face to send him to the steel. Priest runs and flips over the top rope to the steel, splashing Theory. Rollins counters Priest for a slam but Priest bell claps him. Rollins with a kick, Theory with a kick. Gargano also kicks but he gets dropped. Priest drops Theory and is alone on his feet as fans pop and chant “this is awesome!” now.

Rollins with a big superplex and Falcon Arrow to Priest for 2. The timer goes off and in comes Reed. Reed levels Theory on the steel, then clotheslines Rollins and Gargano in the ring. Reed blocks Rollins and slams him and Gargano at the same time for a pop. Reed continues destroying Rollins and Gargano at the same time. Reed places Gargano up top and scoops him onto his shoulders, where Rollins already is. Reed marches with both men on his shoulders, then hits the double Samoan Drop. Rollins kicks out at 2.

Priest and Reed unload on each other with strikes now. Reed with a headbutt. Reed catches Priest with a huge German suplex into the steel wall. Reed smashes Priest into the edge of a pod and Priest goes back down. Reed drops Theory and nails a big flying shoulder tackle. Reed launches Theory into the edge of the pod. The timer goes off and in comes Ford as the last entrant.

Ford unloads with high-impact offense, starting with Theory. Ford with a Spinebuster in the middle of the ring for a big pop. Ford impersonates The Rock for a People’s Elbow but Reed levels him before he can hit it on Theory. Theory tries to scoop Reed to his shoulders and he gets him up but Reed slides out and nails a powerslam. Gargano attacks Reed with kicks. Reed has Gargano in an Electric Chair now but Rollins springboards in with a clothesline to knock Gargano off, but Gargano turns it into a Poisonrana to Reed on the way down. Ford covers Reed for 2.

Fans chant “this is awesome!” again as everyone is down. Priest gets up first. Ford laps over the top rope but Priest catches him for a chokeslam. Ford slides out but Priest nails a lariat. Priest lifts Ford but Ford climbs the Chamber. Ford climbs up to escape Priest and Reed. Ford keeps climbing to the top and hangs from the roof, then leaps down to land on the other competitors. Fans pop big for Ford and chant “holy shit!” now.

Ford superkicks Reed but it barely does anything. Ford keeps going but now Gargano, Rollins and Ford triple superkick Red. Gargano with the Final Beat to Reed, then Rollins hits the Stomp, and Ford hits the top rope splash. Ford covers Reed for the pin and Reed has been eliminated. Fans sing “goodbye!” to Reed.

Priest is triple teamed by the same competitors now. Theory attacks them, taking all three out. Rollins climbs the cage as fans sing his song. Theory climbs with him. Gargano is climbing the other side of the Chamber. Rollins and Gargano are on top of the same pod now. They turn and chat with each other while catching a breather, then they start fighting. Rollins slams Gargano’s head into the glass. Priest and Theory fight down below. Rollins lifts Gargano for a powerbomb on top of the pod for a potential massive Buckle Bomb, but Gargano counters and launches Rollins to the Superstars down below with a huge hurricanrana from the top of the pod. Fans chant “holy shit!” now.

Priest is up first. He grabs Gargano but they tangle and Gargano hits a superkick, then a tornado DDT on the steel. Gargano superkicks Theory, then Ford as they try to attack him. Gargano with a big tornado DDT on the steel to Theory. Gargano rocks Priest but Priest drops him. Priest with the Razor’s Edge for the pin to eliminate Gargano.

Priest takes turns on the remaining three opponents now. Priest with kicks to Rollins, then a big boot to Ford. Priest with more stiff kicks to Rollins. Rollins catches a kick but Priest blocks the right and hits one of his own. Priest blocks a Pedigree and nails another jumping kick. Ford climbs to the top of a pod but Priest rocks him. Priest climbs to the top turnbuckle but here comes Rollins to put him into position for a powerbomb. Ford leaps for a big Blockbuster to knock Priest off Rollins’ shoulders. Ford covers Priest for the pin to eliminate him.

We’re down to Theory, Rollins and Ford now. Ford and Rollins face off and have words. Ford taunts the crowd for singing Rollins’ song. Rollins strikes first and now they go at it. Rollins rocks Ford but Ford kicks him to block the forearm to the back of the head. They trade counters until Ford knocks Rollins to the steel. Ford runs and takes Theory down on the steel, then does the same to Rollins on the steel. Ford sends Theory out to Rollins, then leaps and takes them both down at once. Ford is fired up as fans cheer him on.

Theory can’t hit The ATL on Ford, and Ford nails a Uranage. Ford goes to the top for the big splash but Theory gets his knees up. Rollins with a Stomp to Ford on the steel. Theory knocks Rollins away and steals the pin on Ford. Ford has been eliminated.

Fans chant “you suck!” at Theory now. Rollins and Theory fight. Rollins with a Liger Bomb for 2. Ford is still laid out, so the referee calls for another referee and medics to come out and tend to Ford. The replay shows the Stomp to Ford on the steel. Fans cheer as Ford is helped away by medics. Rollins waits for Theory to get up now. Theory dodges the Stomp but can’t hit The ATL. Rollins with a Pedigree.

Rollins waits for Theory to get back up now. Logan Paul enters the cage as the door is open for Ford to leave. Fans boo. Paul takes out Rollins, and now has words with the referee. Paul goes to leave but turns back around and delivers the Stomp to Rollins. Paul leaves and slams the Chamber door shut. Paul is fired up. Theory gets up and hits The ATL to Rollins for the pin to retain.

Winner: Austin Theory

– After the match, the music hits as Theory stands tall. Fans boo Paul, who is talking trash at ringside. Paul heads to the stage and taunts Rollins to the camera. Undisputed WWE Universal Title Match: Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns

We go back to the ring for tonight’s main event and out first comes Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman. The massive boos began as soon as the music hit, and they are some of the loudest of Reigns’ career. Reigns raises his gold in the air as the pyro goes off. The Tribal Chief and his Wise Man march to the ring now as the boos continue. Reigns stop at ringside and takes it all in as a “fuck you Roman!” chant starts up. Reigns walks up and stops on the apron to raise his finger in the air. Reigns then enters the ring and raises both titles in the air to more pyro. Fans begin singing “ole!” and chanting for the hometown star before the music even hits. Reigns isn’t happy as we wait. The music finally hits and out comes Sami Zayn to a massive pop. He slowly walks out and takes it all in, then explodes but slowly makes his way to the ring. Sami stops and slaps hands with fans at ringside, and quickly hugs who may be his wife. Sami enters the ring and still seems overwhelmed by everything. Reigns shakes his head and laughs. We get formal ring introductions from Samantha Irvin now.

Sami gets fired up for his hometown crowd as his name is announced. The Montreal fans boo Reigns again. Reigns taunts Zayn during the introductions for another “fuck you Roman!” chant. We see Sami’s wife looking on, and Cole says he also has his father, brothers and others here. The bell rings and they size each other up. Sami smiles at the chants and taunts Reigns. They take a few minutes to let the crowd continue. Reigns is annoyed now. The “fuck you Roman!” chant starts back up. Sami taunts Reigns. Sami plays to the crowd now. We’re several minutes in and still no contact.

Reigns finally locks up with Zayn and applies a headlock to boos. Reigns drops Zayn with a shoulder, then raises his finger. Reigns tries to hush the crowd now but they just boo him. Zayn grounds Reigns in a headlock now. Reigns drops Zayn with a strike, then poses to boos. Reigns taunts Zayn as the “fuck you Roman!” chants continue.

Reigns with another headlock. They run the ropes an Zayn tosses Reigns over the top rope to the floor. Zayn runs the ropes and leaps out, with a big dive to take Reigns back down on the floor. Zayn and his wife and fans go wild. Zayn bring Reigns back in and works him over in the corner, mounting Reigns in the corner with right hands as fans count along. Zayn drops Reigns with an elbow for a quick pin attempt.

Zayn with a shot in the corner. Zayn leaps off the second rope but Reigns rocks him in mid-air. Reigns takes it to the floor and works Zayn over, sending him into the barrier and taunting the fans. Heyman barks as Reigns brings it back in. Zayn chops Reigns but it does noting. Reigns responds with a right hand to drop Zayn. Reigns taunts the crowd some more, asking if that’s all they got. A “Roman sucks!” chant starts up.

Sami fights back with chops. Sami charges but Reigns drops him with ease. Reigns laughs and takes his time with Zayn. Reigns taunts Zayn’s wife now, telling her to come to his family so he can provide for her. Reigns beats Zayn back down in the corner, then sends him to the floor. Reigns man-handles Sami in front of his wife and what looks like his small children or other relatives. The children are crying. Reigns blames the beating on Sami’s wife. Reigns beats Sami in front of his father and brothers now.

Zayn finally fights back and unloads, knocking Reigns to the floor. Zayn beats Reigns up in front of his family now. Zayn rolls Reigns back in, then goes back to kiss his wife. Zayn climbs to the top but Reigns rocks him with a big right. Sami turns it around in the corner and ends up hitting a big Sunset Bomb for a close 2 count. Zayn can’t believe it. Reigns fights Zayn off and drives him down. Fans boo. Reigns readies across the ring and smiles at Zayn now.

Reigns calls for the Superman Punch but Zayn catches him and hits the Exploder suplex into the turnbuckles. Zayn charges for the Helluva Kick but Reigns meets him with a Superman Punch. Zayn kicks out.

Reigns calls for the Spear now but Zayn jumps over him, and rolls him for another close 2 count. Reigns quickly charges but Zayn nails another Exploder into the corner. Zayn calls for Reigns’ Superman Punch now, mocking Reigns. Zayn nails it and then hits the Helluva Kick. Reigns kicks out just in time and everyone is shocked.

Reigns rolls to the floor for a breather. Zayn also rolls out and leaps through the bottom and middle rope for the tornado DDT but Reigns blocks it and drops him. Reigns runs around the ring to put Zayn through the barrier but Zayn side-steps and sends Reigns crashing through the barrier. Zayn brings it back in the ring now. Reigns misses the Superman Punch and Zayn nails the Blue Thunderbomb for another close 2 count.

Reigns is down while Zayn gets hyped up, rallying the crowd. They tangle and Reigns rams Zayn back into the corner, but the referee is also sandwiched back into the turnbuckles. Reigns with back elbows to Zayn but the referee also goes down. Zayn nails the Helluva Kick and covers for the win but the referee is down. Fans count to 10 with him but the referee isn’t moving. Zayn can’t believe it. Fans are shocked.

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso runs in and nails two superkicks to Zayn, then a third as fans boo. Uso goes to the top and hits a big Uso splash on Zayn. Uso positions Reigns on top of Zayn as a back-up referee runs down to count the pin. Zayn kicks out and Uso can’t believe it. Reigns sits up on his knees and taunts Zayn. Zayn rocks him and they get to their feet. Reigns with a headbutt. Reigns man-handles Zayn in the corner now while taunting him. Zayn with a big shot to the nose to knock Reigns away.

Zayn dodges a Superman Punch, then unloads on Reigns with more offense. Reigns rolls to the floor. Zayn knocks Jimmy off the apron, but then turns around to a big Spear by Reigns. Zayn still kicks out and Reigns is a bit frustrated now while the crowd pops. The “ole!” chants start back up. Reigns sits up and yells at Zayn about this is how Zayn and everyone here does him. Reigns slaps Zayn while Zayn is on his knees. Zayn gets up and slaps Reigns. Reigns with a Superman Punch but Zayn moves and the referee gets hit, and he’s laid out. Zayn drops Reigns and they’re both down now.

Heyman goes under the ring for a steel chair, then he hands it in to Reigns. Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Jey Uso suddenly appears in the ring now, in between Reigns and Zayn. Fans pop. Reigns yells at Jey about his loyalty. Jey stares Reigns down. Reigns hands the chair to Jey but he won’t take it. Fans chant “no!” now. Zayn is laying with his head on the bottom rope, barely able to look up. Jey takes the chair and Reigns turns his back, kneeling down to taunt Zayn. Jey is behind Reigns with the chair now. Reigns turns back around and talks to Jey as Heyman yells at Jey to hit Zayn.

Reigns takes the chair from Jey and then slaps him, then pushes him around. Zayn charges but Reigns moves and Zayn hits Jey with a Spear on accident. Reigns unloads on Zayn with chair shots to the back now. Fans boo and Sami’s wife is upset. Reigns tosses the chair, then readies in the corner. Zayn stumbles to his feet and Reigns nails a Spear. The original referee slides back in and counts as Reigns covers for the pin to win and retain.

Winner: Roman Reigns

– After the match, Reigns stands tall as the music hits and fans boo. We see shocked and disappointed fans looking on. Jimmy comes back in and attacks Zayn as Reigns watches. The music hits and out comes hometown star Kevin Owens to a huge pop. Jimmy meets Owens on the entrance-way and they brawl. Owens drops Jimmy and sends him into the barrier. Owens stares Reigns down, then rushes the ring. Owens tackles Reigns and unloads on him. Owens with a big Stunner. Jimmy rushes back in but Owens ducks and then hits him with a Stunner to knock him out of the ring. Fans go wild. Owens puts Jimmy through the announce table with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Owens grabs a chair and brings it into the ring. Owens approaches Reigns but Heyman comes in and beats on Owens’ back. Fans chant “you fucked up!” now. Owens turns around but Heyman pleads. Owens with a Stunner to Heyman for a big pop. Owens turns back to Reigns in the corner now. Sami is back to his feet in the opposite corner as the “ole!” chants start up. Owens steps aside and lets Zayn level Reigns with the Helluva Kick. Zayn turns and looks at Owens as his music starts up. Owens exits the ring and stops at ringside to stare up at Zayn. Zayn looks on as Owens marches to the stage. Owens turns back around and looks at his former best friend and rival. Zayn turns back to the crowd as they cheer him on. Elimination Chamber goes off the air.
