WWE SummerSlam Results 8/5/2023

– The 2023 WWE SummerSlam Kickoff pre-show opens live from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan as Kayla Braxton welcomes us. She’s joined on the panel by Jackie Redmond, Peter Rosenberg, Wade Barrett and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. The panel goes over tonight’s card with four main events. We get a video package on Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes now. Barrett and Booker predict Lesnar will win, while Rosenberg goes with Cody. Back from a break and we see Alpha Academy backstage munching on Slim Jims. The panel discusses the 25-Man SummerSlam Battle Royal now. Barrett goes with Bronson Reed, Booker picks Otis to win, and Rosenberg goes with LA Knight.

Cathy Kelley is outside of Ford Field with a bunch of rabid fans. She talks with two who are ready for Tribal Combat. Braxton sends us to Paul Heyman’s Tribal Combat video from SmackDown. We get a discussion on the WWE Women’s Title Triple Threat. Barrett and Redmond go with Charlotte Flair, while Booker and Rosenberg predict Asuka will retain. Back from a break and the panel discusses the WWE Intercontinental Title match. Barrett and Rosenberg pick Drew McIntyre, while Booker goes with GUNTHER to retain. The panel discusses the WWE World Heavyweight Title match now. Barrett, Booker and Rosenberg all go with Finn Balor.

We go to another break and get a video package for the MMA Rules match. Barrett goes with Ronda Rousey, but Rosenberg and Booker go with Shayna Baszler. We go back to Cathy Kelley with fans, this time they’re cutting promos at the Cricket Wireless Fan Zone. We get a video package on Logan Paul vs. Ricochet now. The panel sends us to a video on WWE Community events held in Detroit this week. Byron Saxton and WWE Ambassador Titus O’Neil are on the stage now as fans pop. They’re with the latest WWE Community Circle of Champions members, which are representatives of three organizations working with the Detroit community. It’s announced that each group is receiving a donation of $20,000. Back from the break and the panel discusses Tribal Combat now. Barrett and Rosenberg predict Roman Reigns will retain, while Booker goes with Jey Uso. That’s it for the SummerSlam Kickoff.

– The 2023 WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event opens up with a video package narrated by Celebrity WWE Hall of Famer Kid Rock. We’re now live from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan as the pyro goes off and Michael Cole welcomes us. He’s joined at ringside by Corey Graves.

Logan Paul vs. Ricochet

We go right to the ring for tonight’s opener as Logan Paul makes his way out to pyro and a mixed reaction. Samantha Irvin does the introductions. Ricochet is out next to pyro and a pop.

Paul bullies and mocks Ricochet as they meet in the middle of the ring. Ricochet slaps Paul. They go at it and Paul ends up on the floor before Ricochet goes to dive but they both put the brakes on and we have a stalemate.

Back and forth to start now. Paul ends up dropping Ricochet with a stiff elbow. Paul takes Ricochet down again and grounds him while talking trash as fans boo. Ricochet tries to fight in from the apron but Paul lands somewhat of a cheap shot. Paul ends up hitting a Rude Awakening neckbreaker on the apron while pointing at Irvin.

Paul talks some trash to Irvin and unloads on Ricochet, then brings him back in for strikes in the corner. Fans chant “you suck!” as Paul dominates. Paul with a running powerslam for a 2 count, which was a dig at Braun Strowman, according to Cole. Paul does some moves and taunts to pay tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan.

Ricochet finally mounts some offense and hits The People’s Moonsault for 2. Paul quickly turns it around. We get a Spanish Fly off the apron but they both pop back up and go at it. They do a double Spanish Fly and Ricochet gets the upperhand. Ricochet controls some but Paul hits a flying STO from the ring to the floor. Paul brings it back in and hits a flying crossbody into a standing moonsault for 2.

More back and forth between the two. Ricochet with a huge super neckbreaker from up top but they both are hurt as the referee checks on them. Ricochet comes back to mount more offense for a few minutes. Ricochet with a flying springboard clothesline and a running 450 Splash for 2. Ricochet talks trash and says he wanted Paul to kick out.

Ricochet with kicks now. They trade more offense, counters and pin attempts. They tangle and Ricochet hits a Recoil. Ricochet is slow to go up top because of his ribs. He goes for a Shooting Star Press but Paul gets his knees up. Ricochet kicks out at 2. Paul with a springboard Frogsplash for a close 2 count. Ricochet fights back and hits a Detonation Kick. Ricochet flies off the top again but Paul kicks out.

Ricochet says it’s over but the 630 can’t get the win. They fight and Paul kicks out to cut Ricochet’s rally off. Paul goes down again and his arm is hanging out of the ring. A man, who was in Paul’s entourage, sneaks over and places brass knuckles on Paul’s fist. Paul ends up decking Ricochet for the pin to win.

Winner: Logan Paul

– After the match, Paul stands tall as the music hits. Paul now taunts Samantha Irvin from the apron. Paul talks some trash and poses, then makes his exit.

– Back from a break and we see how Sheamus just pulled up to the arena in a WWE monster truck. Butch and Ridge Holland were waiting for him.

– We get a video package for Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes III.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes

We go back to the ring and out comes Brock Lesnar to pyro and a pop. Lesnar paces around waiting as fans cheer. The music finally hits and Cody Rhodes is out next for his rubber match with The Beast. Rhodes gets the usual pyro as fans cheer him on his way to the ring.

Rhodes’ mother is back in the crowd tonight. The bell hits and Cody attacks from behind. Lesnar fights him off and hits a big German suplex for a pop.

Cody with more offense, including two Disaster Kicks. Lesnar blocks the third, then unloads with shoulders in the corner. Lesnar charges but hits the ring post and the floor as Cody side-steps. Cody with a big dive to the floor, sending Brock into the announce table. Cody stays on Brock but gets sent into the ring post.

Lesnar brings it back in and works Cody over, just launching him across the ring with ease. Lesnar with a huge belly-to-belly suplex now. Cody tries to fight but Lesnar clubs him down and kicks his ribs. Lesnar with a suplex for 2. Lesnar keeps control and hits another German suplex. Lesnar plays to the crowd for a mixed reaction, then hits another big German to send Cody to the floor.

Lesnar is all smiles as he tells Cody to come back in. Cody makes it in at the five count but Lesnar attacks and hits another German. Lesnar tosses Cody back to the floor and the referee counts. Cody makes it back in at six as Lesnar shakes his head. Lesnar kicks Cody back to the floor and yells at him, telling him to save himself.

Cody makes it back in at seven. Lesnar says this is only going to get worse. Lesnar continues the assault and tosses Cody back to the floor. Cody makes it back in but it’s taking him longer. Lesnar clotheslines Cody back to the floor. Cody makes it back in at eight again. Lesnar is a bit frustrated now as he pulls Cody to the floor and drops him again with a F5. Lesnar yells at Michael Cole to tell Cody to stay down. Lesnar waits in the ring as fans count and Cody makes it back in at nine.

Lesnar is angry at Cody now. Cody slowly gets up and tells Lesnar to bring it. They go at it but Lesnar launches Cody with another big suplex. They go to the floor and Lesnar puts Cody through the announce table with a big F5. Fans chant “holy shit!” now. Cole pleads with Cody to stay down. Cody just beats the ten count and Lesnar can’t believe it.

Lesnar just looks down at Cody and shakes his head. Fans rally for Cody as he gets up but Lesnar clubs him back down. Cody fights from his knees but Lesnar decks him and hits a big belly-to-belly suplex. Cody holds on top of the top turnbuckle as Lesnar grabs him. Lesnar hits the German suplex but now the turnbuckle is exposed. Cody grabs half of the steel ring steps but Lesnar goes out and kicks them into Cody. Cody fights back and sends Lesnar into the ring post. Cody goes on and hits Lesnar with half of the steps.

Cody brings it back in and hits a Disaster Kick and a big Cody Cutter as fans pop. Lesnar hangs in there. Lesnar struggles on one knee now but Cody flies off the top with a big Cody Cutter. Lesnar still kicks out at 2. Cody yells out and goes for Cross Rhodes but Lesnar counters and takes Cody down into the Kimura Lock. Cody finally gets the bottom rope and the hold is broken.

Lesnar and Rhodes both get up to their feet. Cody blocks the F5 and sends Lesnar into the exposed turnbuckle. Cody takes Lesnar down into his own move, the Kimura. Lesnar screams out as Cody tightens the hold. Lesnar finally manages to break the hold by slamming Cody into the mat.

Fans rally as Cody grabs Lesnar. Cody blocks the F5 and hits two straight Cross Rhodes. Cody keeps Lesnar held in position for the move, then drops Lesnar with a third straight Cross Rhodes for the pin to win.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

– After the match, Cody stands tall to a big pop as the music hits. Cody stares down at Brock now. Brock gets up and they both look ready for a fight. They bump foreheads, then Lesnar offers his hand. Cody shakes it as fans go wild. Lesnar raises Cody’s arm in victory, turning him to each side of the crowd. Lesnar exits as Cody hits the corner to pose. Cody goes out and greets his mother at ringside, then greets a few fans and signs a few autographs on the way to the back.

– Back from a break and we get a promo for WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. We see fans at a SummerSlam Watch Party at Dave & Buster’s in Philadelphia.

25-Man SummerSlam Battle Royal: WWE United States Champion Austin Theory, AJ Styles, LA Knight, Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland, Matt Riddle, Chad Gable, Otis, Santos Escobar, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Miz, Grayson Waller, Karrion Kross, Tommaso Ciampa, Cameron Grimes, Ivar, Erik, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci, JD McDonagh, Apollo Crews, Rick Boogs, Omos

We go back to the ring for the 25-Man Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal and out comes The Miz while Mike Rome does the introductions. The ring is filled up with Superstars already. Out next comes LA Knight to a huge pop. AJ Styles is out next to a pop. Cole sends us to a video package on the history of Battle Royals in WWE.

The bell hits and everyone gets ready to fight but MVP interrupts and says we can’t start without the winner being introduced. The music hits and out comes Omos. The match kicks off and everyone goes at it while Omos strolls to the ring.

Omos tosses Apollo Crews, then JD McDonagh. Rick Boogs attacks Omos but gets beat down, then eliminated. Several people team up on Omos but he ends up fighting them off. Ivar works on Cameron Grimes. Imperium eliminates Otis, then Chad Gable attacks them. Gable eliminates Giovanni Vinci. Erik drops Gable. Shinsuke Nakamura works on AJ. Tommaso Ciampa eliminates Ivar, then Erik. Nakamura and Ciampa go at it. Nakamura is eliminated after Willow’s Bell.

Bronson Reed attacks and eliminates Ciampa. WWE United States Champion Austin Theory eliminates Ridge Holland, then Grimes. Santos Escobar eliminates Theory. Karrion Kross eliminates Santos. Ludwig Kaiser works on Gable but he hangs on. Gable eliminates Kaiser to a pop. Butch and Matt Riddle double team Omos but Omos powers up and eliminates both at once.

Omos smashes AJ in the corner, drops Kross, powerbombs Gable and slams Grayson Waller. Fans pop as LA attacks Omos but Omos drops him. They all take turns on Omos now. Sheamus with a Brogue Kick and AJ with a Phenomenal Forearm. They all eliminate Omos and he’s not happy. Waller and Miz team up now. They toss LA but he hangs on. LA eliminates Miz to a big pop. Sheamus eliminates Waller.

Sheamus and LA have words but Reed drops them. AJ eliminates Kross. Reed eliminates Gable. We’re down to Sheamus, AJ, LA and Reed. LA and Reed go at it now. LA eliminates Reed to a big pop. Sheamus drops AJ, then LA. AJ dodges a Brogue and drops Sheamus. Kross grabs AJ’s leg from the floor, allowing Sheamus to eliminate AJ with a Brogue.

LA drops Sheamus and hits his big elbow drop to a pop. They go at it and LA sends Sheamus to the apron but Sheamus stuns him with the rope. Sheamus goes up top but LA jumps up and launches him to the mat with a super belly-to-belly suplex. LA then tosses Sheamus to the floor for the final elimination.

Winner: LA Knight

– After the match, fans pop big as LA stands tall. The music hits and we go to replays. LA continues posing for the crowd and celebrating the win.

MMA Rules Match: Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler

Back from a break and out first comes Ronda Rousey for tonight’s MMA Rules Match. Shayna Baszler is out next. The referee meets them in the middle of the ring and says this is under MMA Rules and not WWE-sanctioned. He goes over the rules and tells them to have a clean fight, touch gloves if you want and then go to your corner. Rousey offers her gloves but Baszler walks off.

The bell rings and they go back & forth to start. Baszler ends up connecting a big high kick to knock Rousey to the floor. Rousey is dazed as she slowly makes her way back in.

Baszler immediately grabs Rousey for a submission. They fight it out on the mat now. They get back up and Rousey nails a stiff jumping knee to the nose to put Baszler down. The referee checks on Baszler.

The fight ends up on the floor and Baszler is hurt. They come back in and Baszler is down in the corner as Rousey looks on. The referee yells at Rousey to stay away. Rousey yells for Baszler to get back up while Baszler is sitting down in her corner. Two medics come in to check on Shayna now as fans boo. Rousey tosses the medics away but the referee holds her back. Shayna gets up and tells Rousey to bring it. They go at it and Rousey is tossed.

Rousey fights out of the Kirifuda Clutch and goes into the arm bar. Shayna turns it into the ankle lock. They get back up and tangle some more. Shayna with the Kirifuda Clutch again and this time Rousey can’t break it. Baszler bites her own glove to keep the hold locked. Rousey passes out in the hold for the finish.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

– After the match, the music hits as Baszler poses in the corner. We go to replays. Cole shows fans at the SummerSlam Watch Party in Cologne, Germany now. Rousey looks on as Baszler continues celebrating.

– Back from a break and Mike Rome announces 59,194 fans in attendance.

WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Drew McIntyre vs. GUNTHER (c)

We go back to the ring and out comes Drew McIntyre to a big pop. Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci come to the stage for the grand introduction to bring out WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER.

The bell rings as both competitors size each other up. GUNTHER talks some trash and Drew barks back. They lock up and Drew slams GUNTHER first. GUNTHER comes back to ground Drew. Drew fights up and out with a back suplex.

GUNTHER goes to the floor and Drew follows, sending him into the barrier and apron. They bring it back into the ring as GUNTHER attacks. Drew nails a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. GUNTHER ends up going back to the floor as Drew follows. GUNTHER takes control and slams Drew on top of the steel ring steps. GUNTHER brings it back in and unloads on Drew while talking trash.

GUNTHER continues to dominate with power moves and big strikes. GUNTHER with a big German suplex but Drew comes right back with a lariat. They trade big strikes now. Drew with a big belly-to-belly throw. GUNTHER comes right back at him but Drew lands another belly-to-belly. GUNTHER dodges a Future Shock DDT but Drew still puts him down and kips-up for a pop.

Drew calls for the Claymore Kick but GUNTHER drops down and then dropkicks him into the corner. Drew blocks a powerbomb and hits one of his own. Drew with a Future Shock DDT for 2. Drew calls for the Claymore again but GUNTHER rolls to the floor. Drew runs the ring and hits a big dive to the floor for a pop.

Drew brings it back into the ring for a Claymore but GUNTHER dropkicks him instead. GUNTHER with a powerbomb for 2. GUNTHER then goes up top and hits a flying splash for a close 2 count. GUNTHER is frustrated now as he slaps and punches Drew around. Drew blocks a chop and hits one of his own. They end up trading big chops for a few minutes, lots of chops here. Drew goes on to hit a big Claymore but GUNTHER kicks out at 2. Fans chant “this is awesome!” now. Drew takes GUNTHER to the top and chops him a few times.

Drew climbs up for a Gutwrench superplex but GUNTHER hangs on and fights back. Drew unloads with slaps while GUNTHER unloads with chops. Drew looks to hit the move but GUNTHER knocks him to the top rope, crotching him. Drew falls to the mat and GUNTHER immediately hits the flying splash. GUNTHER then quickly follows up with a lariat, then the powerbomb in the middle of the ring for the pin to win and retain.

Winner: GUNTHER

– After the match, GUNTHER stands tall as the music hits and we go to replays. Drew marches straight to the back with his head down as GUNTHER poses with the title.

– We get a video package for the next match.

WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins (c)

The Peacock feed is having technical difficulties now as we come back to this match already in progress. Finn Balor and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins are trading strikes. An aggressive Balor beats Rollins down and has words with the referee.

Rollins fights out of the corner and beats Balor down with a flurry of offense. Balor kicks out at 2. Balor blocks a Pedigree. Balor goes for a big move but Rollins turns it into a Falcon Arrow for 2. Balor goes to the floor but Rollins nails three straight suicide dives, knocking Balor into the announce table each time.

Fans sing for Rollins as he brings it back in. Rollins goes up top. Balor cuts him off and uses his own arm to send him into the ring post, then the floor. Rollins blocks a Barrier Bomb and slams Balor on the apron. They come back out and Balor nails the Barrier Bomb.

Balor brings it back in and hits Slingblade. Balor runs into a superkick, but Balor drops him for 2. Balor with the armbar now. The feed goes back out and comes back to Rollins nailing two Buckle Bombs. Rollins goes up for a Frogsplash but Balor kicks out at 2. The feed comes back to Balor kicking out of a Pedigree.

Damian Priest ends up coming down with his Money In the Bank briefcase. Balor rolls a distracted Rollins up for 2. They tangle and Rollins cradles Balor for 2, but Balor kicks out and sends Rollins into a big right by Priest at the ropes. Balor hits a Pedigree but Rollins kicks out, shocking Balor and Priest.

Priest is seen waving at someone. WWE NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley come through the crowd now, hitting the apron to have words with the referee. Priest offers his briefcase to Balor… for a cash in or for a weapon? He says come on we can do this but Balor is not interested. They argue and Rollins ends up dropping Balor and hitting a Stomp for 2. Rollins is shocked at the kick out.

Rollins goes up top and leaps to the floor to take out Priest. Dominik comes over but Rollins superkicks him. Rollins comes back in but Balor hits a Slingblade, then the corner dropkick. Balor goes up top and hits Coup de Grace but Rollins kicks out at 2 and everyone is shocked as the crowd goes wild.

Balor is upset now as Priest, Mysterio and Ripley regroup at ringside. Priest slides his briefcase into the ring, then runs to the other side to argue with the referee on the apron. Balor crawls to the briefcase but Rollins jumps up and nails a big Stomp into the briefcase for the pin to win and retain.

Winner: Seth Rollins

– After the match, Priest and Rollins stare each other down as the music hits. Rollins grabs the title and begins celebrating as we go to replays. Rollins makes his exit now as Balor looks over at Priest.

– We go backstage to Alpha Academy promoting Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Mike’s drinkers are known as Mike… but The Miz walks in and he doesn’t like this. Miz has words with Alpha Academy but gets knocked down.

– Back from a break and we get a video package for the next match.

Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Title: Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair vs. Asuka (c)

We go back to the ring and out comes Charlotte Flair to pyro. WWE Women’s Champion Asuka is out next to pyro and a pop. Bianca Belair is out last to a pop. Mike Rome does formal ring introductions.

The Peacock feed suffered issues all during this lengthy back & forth match. At one point Flair launched Belair to the floor and she hit her knee on the steel steps. Officials came to ringside to check on Belair while Flair and Asuka kept going at it in the ring.

Flair ended up getting Asuka in the Figure Four. She bridged into the Figure Eight, but Belair ran back down and went to the top, hitting a big 450 Splash on Flair while she held the bridge. Flair still kicked out at 2. The match went on until Flair trapped Belair in the Figure Four, then the Figure Eight. Asuka slid in and sprayed her mist in Flair’s face. Asuka goes over to kick Belair while she’s still tangled up in the submission, but Belair ducks and rolls Asuka up for the pin to win the title.

Winner and New WWE Women’s Champion: Bianca Belair

– After the match, Belair celebrates with the title as the music hits and we go to replays. IYO SKY’s music suddenly hits to a big pop. SKY runs out with Bayley, who has the Money In the Bank briefcase. Bayley leads the way and drops Asuka and Flair at ringside with briefcase shots. They hit the ring and Belair tries to fight Bayley but she gets dropped. SKY decks Belair and goes up top while the cash-in is made official.

WWE Women’s Title Match: IYO SKY vs. Bianca Belair (c)

IYO SKY is already waiting in the corner when the bell hits, while new WWE Women’s Champion Bianca Belair is laid out under her. SKY climbs up and hits her big moonsault for the pin to win the title.

Winner and New WWE Women’s Champion: IYO SKY

– After the match, SKY and Bayley celebrate as the music hits and we go to replays. SKY celebrates with the title to a big pop. The injured Dakota Kai hits the ring to join in on the celebration now as Damage CTRL reunites.

– We get a break and a video for tonight’s main event.

Tribal Combat for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title and Tribal Chief Status: Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns (c)

We go back to the ring for tonight’s Tribal Combat main event as Jey Uso makes his way out to a pop. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is out next with Paul Heyman. The pyro hits and they march to the ring as Jey looks on. Cole says Solo Sikoa is not here because Jey took him out on SmackDown. Jey and Roman are both wearing traditional leis tonight. Cole says there are no rules in this match, but there must be a definitive winner. Reigns finally makes it to the apron and snarls as his cousin.

Reigns enters the ring and raises his title to more pyro. The bell rings as Heyman hands the mic to Reigns. He gets a mixed reaction when calling on SummerSlam to acknowledge him. Mike Rome does formal ring introductions now. Reigns takes off his symbolic Tribal Chief lei and tells Jey that if Jey wins tonight, Reigns will hand him the lei, no one else. The bell hits again and they size each other up again. Fans chant for Uso.

Reigns and Uso lock up now. Reigns takes it right to the corner and talks trash in Jey’s face, then pushes him around. Reigns backs off and smiles. They lock up again and Reigns applies a headlock. They break and Reigns drops Jey with a shoulder to boos.

Reigns begins seething as the “Roman sucks!” chants start up. Reigns tries to shake it off but it’s getting to him and Reigns is getting angry. They lock up again and now Jey applies a headlock. They break and Reigns drops Jey. Reigns taunts the crowd now. They go on and Jey mounts offense now. Jey with a big kick, then he knocks Reigns to the floor.

Jey with a big dive to the floor as fans pop. Jey drives Reigns into the steel steps now. Jey slowly approaches a worried Heyman as fans chant for tables. Jey brings a table out to a pop. Heyman pleads with Jey… saying Reigns is your family, look what he’s done for you. Reigns takes advantage of the distraction and brings it back into the ring. Reigns goes on but runs into an enziguri. They go at it but Reigns slams Jey back into the turnbuckles. Fans chant “Uso!” but Reigns taunts them to boos.

Reigns goes out and hits Jey with a Drive By. Reigns gets on the apron and Jey stuns him with a kick to the floor. Jey runs for a div but Reigns meets him at the ropes with a kendo stick shot. Reigns comes in with kendo stick shots, unloading on Jey as Heyman barks from ringside. Reigns poses to boos. Reigns talks trash to “you suck!” chants. Reigns yells at Jey to get up while holding the kendo stick against his throat. Jey stands up, stick still against his neck, but he ends up rocking Reigns, forcing Reigns to drop the stick. Reigns is stunned but he quickly puts Jey into the corner with big clothesline blows.

Jey falls to the mat. Reigns calls for a Superman Punch but Jey meets him with kendo stick shots. Jey unloads with the stick and knocks Reigns to the floor, then hits a big dive for a pop. Jey brings it back in and goes to the top for the Uso splash but Reigns jumps up with Superman Punch in mid-air. Reigns covers for 2. Jey blocks a Spear and rolls Reigns up for 2. Jey superkicks Reigns and hits the big splash for a close 2 count.

Jay stands over Reigns with a steel chair now. Jey looks down at Reigns, then out at a worried Heyman. Heyman pleads with Jey but he hits Reigns with a chair shot to the back. Jey with another chair shot. Fans want one more. Jey goes out and tosses a bunch of chairs into the ring now, making a pile.

Heyman screams at Jey about how he and Reigns are family. Jey takes Reigns back to the top, hoping to slam him onto the chairs. Reigns ends up headbutting Jey to the mat. Jey comes right back with a step-up enziguri. Jey climbs back up to Reigns but Reigns slides out and drives Jey onto the pile of chairs. Jey still kicks out at 2.

Reigns and Jey are both slow to get up. Reigns goes out for a table and leans it in the corner back inside. Jey charges but Reigns scoops him. They tangle and Jey goes down on the apron. Jey gets up and Reigns rocks him. They trade big punches at the ropes. Reigns is trying to knock Jey onto the table on the floor but Jey hits a low kick. Jey tries to launch himself in but Reigns decks him in mid-air. Fans boo as Reigns poses. Reigns charges to knock Jey off the apron but Jey hits him. They trade more big strikes at the ropes until Jey hits a Samoan Drop through the table at ringside for a big pop.

Reigns crawls away but Jey brings out a big leather strap, then runs and whips Reigns in the back with it. Jey taunts Reigns and whips him again. Reigns retreats through the crowd but Jey follows as the fight continues. Reigns rocks Jey but Jey takes control until he tries to scoop Reigns to put him through a table as Solo Sikoa appears from out of nowhere, saving Reigns.

Fans boo as Solo pounds on Jey now. Solo slams Jey through a table with a Spinning Solo. Fans chant “holy shit!” now. Solo drags Jey to the ring and Reigns follows to boos. Solo brings Jey in and goes for a Spinning Solo but Jey turns it around and this confusion sees Reigns accidentally hit Solo with a Spear. Jey goes on and hits a Spear on Reigns for 2. People are shocked. Jey hits Solo with a chair to put him back down, then hits Reigns with a chair, another chair shot to Solo to keep him down. Jey unloads with chair jabs down into Reigns now.

Jey ends up stalking Reigns at ringside. Jey goes to hit Reigns with a chair but Solo superkicks him from out of nowhere. Reigns is down and asking Solo to help him up. Solo does not help him. Reigns stands up on his own and has words with Solo. Jey runs in from the side and smashes Reigns through a barrier. Fans chant “this is awesome!” now. Graves says Solo was trying to say he can’t respect Reigns without respect, which has to do with Reigns accidentally hitting a Spear on Solo earlier.

Solo goes on to take apart the announce table. He goes for a Spinning Solo on Jey but Jey kicks him, then kicks him onto the announce table. Jey hits the barrier and leaps off, splashing Solo through the table for a big pop. Jey brings Reigns back in and hits a Spear. Fans pop as Jey goes back to the top and hits the Uso splash for a 2 count as a masked, hooded mystery man yanks Jey out of the ring to break the pin up.

The man stands at ringside and looks down at Jey. He reveals his identity and it’s Jimmy Uso, and he’s not happy. Jey looks up and asks why. Jimmy stands there for a few minutes. Jey is emotional and we now see Heyman standing behind Jimmy. Fans chant “fuck you Jimmy!” and Jimmy finally superkicks his brother. Jimmy rolls Jey into the ring. Reigns sits up in the corner and he’s a bit shocked. Jey is also up now. Reigns quickly charges with a Spear to put Jey through the table, then get the pin to win and retain.

Winner: Roman Reigns

– After the match, Reigns recovers as the music hits and we go to replays. Jey sits up with his head down. Reigns and Heyman are with the title and the lei now. We see Solo down at ringside, sitting against the barrier and looking around. Reigns exits and stops to put on his lei as Jey yells out in the ring. Reigns stands there taking it all in, while Heyman stands behind him, chanting praise as the Only Tribal Chief. Reigns nods and looks down as Heyman continues the praise. Reigns raises his finger in the air as SummerSlam goes off the air.
