There is said to be a lot of unhappiness within WWE over Sami Zayn being stripped of the WWE Intercontinental Title, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Zayn reportedly exercised the option that the company gave everyone during the coronavirus pandemic, regarding not having to wrestle if they don’t feel comfortable doing so, and the title decision isn’t sitting well wit some in the company.
The Observer noted that there are several people in WWE who are not comfortable about working right now during the outbreak, but were not prepared to take WWE up on the offer of not working due to job security reasons, and this was before the releases that came in April. There are still some people who aren’t working who live in the United States, but very few.
The tournament to crown a new Intercontinental Champion will begin during tonight’s SmackDown on FOX. Stay tuned for updates.
