Full Sail University, Orlando, FL

Commentary by Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson

Opening Segment: Nikki Cross vs. Mercedes Martinez

Highlights include:

Favourable response to Mercedes Martinez here. Coming out of a headlock from Cross, Martinez with a beauty suplex to break Cross’ hold. A few moments later, she yanks Cross by the leg off the turnbuckle. Definitely the aggressor. Elbows to the face instead of a pinfall attempt by Martinez and she transitions that into a guillotine submission.

Cross blocks two punches from Martinez and begins to build up her offense with clotheslines, culminating with a bulldog. She ascends to the top…crossbody splash! 1-2- kickout.

Martinez blocks Cross’ finisher and nails her with a spinebuster. No cover though. Both women are on the mat, struggling to get back to their feet.

Backdrop Driver by Martinez! Another one! She goes for the 3rd…Release German suplex. Running knee to the face. Can’t execute the Fisherman Buster. Cross fights back with a neckbreaker and slaps herself to boost the adrenaline.

Cross grabs Martinez again and hits the Purge! 1-2-3.

Winner: Nikki Cross via pinfall in 7 minutes

Post-match, Cross drops down on all fours and stares at Martinez. She then mouths that “that was fun”. Martinez nods in agreement and leaves the ring.

After the highlights, Candice LeRae walks down to the ring and starts chewing Cross out, presumably for her role in the Aleister Black attack. LeRae continuously says it’s not funny as Cross points, laughs, and leaves.

Cross is almost through the curtain when she stops and stares. She retreats as Aleister Black approaches. He stops, turns his head toward the ring and walks down to meet LeRae.

LeRae walks up to Black and looks up at him. Black asks where Johnny is and he’s visibly irritated. LeRae says he’s not here. Black’s upset but he walks away.

One cool point for both women. This was a very hard-hitting match, and Martinez almost had the win a few times, dominating the match at times. Cross continues to excel in her interactions with fellow roster members; everything she does prompts the attention of fans because she acts so uniquely from the others.

Last month, Street Profits fought The Mighty. A recap of the match is shown and Nigel McGuinness tells us they will fight again TONIGHT.

Second Segment: Street Profits vs. The Mighty

Thorne and Miller come out and they still have the Street Profit’s black cup.

Highlights include:

Ford unleashing on both Thorne and Miller, including a flip over both men, standing side by side, and then a dropkick on both men. He and Dawkins clothesline them over the rope and then Ford flies over the top rope with a somersault tope to take them out!

He can’t maintain the momentum and, upon re-entering the ring via a front flip, Miller dishes a spinebuster on him, pinning for 2.
Double back Russian leg sweep by The Mighty for another 2 count.

Modified Falcon Arrow by Miller on Ford, but Ford will not give up.
Miller with the pinning combination they won with last month but Ford kicks out.

Ford somersaults over his opponent, and tags in Dawkins. Dawkins is fresh and he punishes Miller and Thorne with a barrage of offense, including a bulldog on Miller, and a sidewinder slam on Thorne.

Knockout punch on Thorne! 1-2- Miller makes the save. He gets chucked out of the ring. Tag to Ford. He gets up to the top rope. Miller distracts him and Thorne, reversing Dawkins’ powerslam with a hurricanrana, slaps Ford. Miller gets underneath Thorne and lifts him up while Thorne is suplexing Ford. Wow.

Dawkins interrupts that count. Sky High on Miller! Thorne nails him from behind and that sends Dawkins to the floor below.
Ford’s back….Frog Splash on Thorne! 1-2-3.

Winner: Street Profits via pinfall in 7 minutes

Dawkins retrieves the black cup, and he and Ford celebrate.

One cool point for Street Profits who get a big win over The Mighty. Ford looked fantastic in this match, really putting his body on the line and showing off his agility and risk-taking nature.

Backstage, nXt General Manager William Regal is asked by Cathy Kelley about Takeover: WarGames. Regal says nXt Champion Tommaso Ciampa will defend the title against Velveteen Dream.

Suddenly, Aleister Black enters the picture and asks Regal where Gargano is. Regal says he doesn’t know, but Black will get his pound of flesh and take on Gargano at WarGames. Black says Gargano’s future will fade to black.

One of the official themes for Takeover: War Games is “Voices” by Motionless In White.

Third Segment: Lars Sullivan Is Pissed!

Backstage, Lars Sullivan is caught on camera throwing objects around. He tells the cameraman that he should be in that nXt Championship match.

Matt Riddle vs. Luke Menzies

nXt fans go nuts as Matt Riddle comes out, debuting some fancy theme music that sounds like a cross between Still D.R.E. and California Love. Lots of “bro” chants to start this match.

Highlights include:

Test of strength between Menzies and Riddle. Riddle twists as does Menzies. The sequence ends with Riddle lifting Menzies up with his feet and briefly trapping his head between his legs.

High kicks to Menzies’ chest in the corner. Jumping forearm lands. Second one doesn’t. Menzies headbutts Riddle and connects with an overhead toss for a 2 count.

Riddle slaps his way out of a headlock with palm strikes. He beckons Menzies up. Menzies evades the kick the first time, but can’t do it the second time. “Bro” chants from the crowd. Riddle launches a hard knee to Menzies’ jaw. He elbows Menzies repeatedly to the chest and then applies the Bromission for the victory. McGuinness explains it as an extremely effective modification of the abdominal stretch or jujitsu twister.

Winner: Matt Riddle via pinfall in 3.5 minutes

One cool point for Matt Riddle who made a lot of fans in his debut match. Seems like his MMA background will be a primary focus for his move set, and fans are onboard.

Highlights from the nXt Women’s Championship match, at WWE Evolution, are shown. Shayna Baszler is the first 2-time Women’s Champ.
Kelley asks her about if the win over Kairi Sane was redemption. Baszler said she lost the match at Brooklyn:IV to herself. Suddenly, you can hear Sane shrieking and shouting, trying to approach Baszler and her friends. She’s prevented from doing so, as Baszler grins and eggs her on.

“Wonderful Life” by Bring On The Horizon is an official theme song for Takeover: War Games.

Fourth Segment: Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. Raul Mendoza & Umberto Carrillo

Highlights include:

Mendoza and Burch shake hands to begin this match.

Mendoza showing off his lucha-libre style to begin this match, flipping around Burch and connecting with a head-scissors takedown. He can’t sustain the offense though.

Burch tags in Lorcan. Double team chops to the chest of Carrillo, who tagged in.
Mendoza and Carrillo run opposite ropes and dive through to splash Lorcan and Burch.

Carrillo stands tall on the turnbuckle and goes for the moonsault…Lorcan lifts his leg and Carrillo’s face smashes into it.

Lorcan runs and hurts Carrillo with that running European uppercut. Mendoza tags in. He chops Burch in the chest. Quick moves by Mendoza to kick both Burch and Lorcan. Missile dropkick takes out both of his opponents. He runs again but Burch catches Mendoza with a hip toss. Mendoza lands in the turnbuckle.

Lorcan takes out Carrillo. Mendoza’s vulnerable. Double team Implant DDT. Lorcan pins him for the victory.

Winners: Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch via pinfall in 3 minutes

One cool point for Lorcan & Burch who have so solid since their return from an absence over the summer. They get high praise from the commentary for being the toughest team in the Tag Division.

Final Segment: Undisputed Era Promo Gone Wrong & Regal Books WarGames

Backstage, we get a trademark Undisputed Era promo. The 4 guys revel in having Bobby Fish back as an active wrestler. They’re 100% again!

Suddenly, Cole’s speech is interrupted and the War Raiders attack from behind the curtain. They beat up on all 4 members in a fight that spills outside of Full Sail. Hanson and Rowe chuck Cole, like a lawn dart, into a transport truck. Fish and O’Reilly are thrown on to the patio tables.

Roderick Strong equalizes things with a garbage can, and the numbers game finally overwhelms War Raiders. Oh! Never mind. It’s Ricochet, flying in and going right after Adam Cole.

Fish tries to get back into the building, but Hanson picks him up and slams him into the garage door. He chucks O’Reilly into it, too.

Meanwhile, all of the wrestlers do eventually make their way into the arena. Rowe hip tosses Strong over the barrier to ringside!
Into the squared circle, it’s 3 on 4. Bobby Fish slams Hanson’s knee with a chair, and the Undisputed Era seizes that opportunity to take the advantage.

Pete Dunne’s music hits, and he’s striding down with a steel chair. Adam Cole zeroes in on Dunne on the ramp; he’s slammed with the chair for his efforts. O’Reilly receives a thrown chair that he can’t catch.

Action continues until we hear GM Regal’s voice say this is not how this will happen. They can fight, in Los Angeles, inside of WarGames!!! Fantastic.

Here’s the Takeover: WarGames card so far:
Undisputed Era vs. War Raiders, Ricochet (NAc) & Pete Dunne (UKc) in WarGames
Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Velveteen Dream
Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano

Brilliant final segment. Thought it would be a formal match, but it was so much fun to see that go down as an outside/backstage brawl to the ring. Battle lines are drawn. All of those men are going to be phenomenal inside of the double cage.

Plenty of story development tonight, and still the possibility of Lars Sullivan being added to that championship match. Any match predictions for WarGames?
