Below are results from tonight’s Ring of Honor 17th anniversary show, live from Sam’s Town Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Show opens with a highlight video detailing the 17 year history of ROH. A promo package hyping the main event between Matt Taven and Jay Lethal is spliced in. Taven calls himself the true ROH champion.
NWA heavyweight champion Nick Aldis joins Ian Riccaboni on commentary. They run down the evening’s card.
-Marty Scurll defeated Kenny King by pinfall. Scurll nailed King with his Villain umbrella with the referee’s back turned. Following the match, Scurll has a staredown with Nick Aldis. They will battle for the NWA title at the Crockett Cup.
–Jeff Cobb defeated Shane Taylor by pinfall to retain the ROH Television championship. Cobb hit his finisher, “Tour of the Islands,” twice to put Taylor down.
–Mayu Iwatani defeated Kelly Klein by pinfall to retain the WOH championship. Iwatani catches Klein in an inside cradle to secure the victory.
-Video package for the Kingdom versus Lifeblood tag bout. Matt Taven comes out with a microphone in hand. He says after seeing the footage, he could no longer stay backstage. He wants his title match against Jay Lethal now. Lethal’s music hits and the champ comes out.
–Jay Lethal versus Matt Taven goes to a 60-minute time limit draw. Lethal retains. Absolutely insane matchup that included interference from The Kingdom. Lots of false finishes.
-Following the bout, Marty Scurll comes out and steals the ROH World championship. Lethal and Taven are too battered to do anything about it.
-Musical performance from rapper Mega Ran. Bully Ray interrupts and tells them to cut the crap and stop wasting PPV time. He says he thinks rap sucks, this song sucks, and berates Mega Ran for stealing his monicker from a video game. Eventually he shoves them out of the ring, and cuts a promo on being the only ROH performer who has ever performed at Madison Square Garden. He ends by offering up an open challenge to any wrestler that is brave enough to stand to him.
–RUSH defeated Bandido by pinfall. After the match, Dalton Castle comes into the ring and challenges RUSH to a match at G1 Supercard. RUSH asks who Castle is, and accepts.
-Commentary team tells us that the Kingdom versus Lifeblood and Silas Young versus Jonathan Gresham will be happening at a later date due to Gresham being attacked, and the Kingdom leaving following the result of the World title match.
–PCO & Brody King defeated the Briscoes by pinfall to become the new ROH tag team champions. A bloody back-and-forth street fight that ends when PCO lands his signature moonsault.
