This weekend AAA held their TripleMania pay-per-view event, which saw lucha-libre legend Konnan named as the promotion’s new head of talent relations. However, Konnan has also revealed on the latest edition of his Keepin It 100 podcast that he tried to get top AEW superstar Kenny Omega involved in the show.
Konnan says that he asked Omega to send in a video to challenge the winner of the El Hijo del Vikingo and Rey Fenix AAA Mega championship match, as it was the title that Omega had to relinquish due to injury. However, Omega was not able to send in a video due to the ongoing legal issues stemming from the Cleaner’s involvement in the backstage melee from ALL OUT.
“I know there are some legal issues because I actually asked Kenny Omega if he could send me a video for Triplemania, whoever wins between Vikingo and Fenix because, you know, he’s the number one contender, and he goes, ‘I still can’t because of legal issues.’ So, there is something legal going on.”
Omega, the Young Bucks, and CM Punk have been absent from programming due to the brawl, leaving AEW without four of their top acts.
