Scott D’Amore opens up about IMPACT Wrestling transitioning back to its TNA roots.
The EVP announced at this past weekend’s Bound For Glory that starting in 2024 the promotion will be known as TNA once again. This will start at the January 13th Hard To Kill pay-per-view from the Palms in Las Vegas. During a recent Press Pass media call D’Amore revealed that this has been under wraps since early in 2023 and is very happy that the news didn’t leak to the media prior to that.
This was first formulated early in 2023. The circle kept expanding as the year went on about who was inside that circle and in the know. I remember having this conversation earlier in the year and saying, ‘it’s a miracle if we see spring without this getting out.’ The fact that it was kept under wraps until that night, to me, is truly special. It’s a testament to the individuals we have in this company, on camera and behind the scenes. It meant a lot to everybody to create that special moment.
According to D’Amore, not only will IMPACT be going back to TNA but the company has a new design of belts that will be revealed soon.
We have all new championship belts. I know people have talked about returning to this design or that design, there are some amazing designs. The belts will continue to evolve and change, but we felt it was important that, we’re TNA Wrestling, but we’re still moving forward. We have all new championship belts and those will be revealed as we lead up to Hard to Kill. One of the things to address is, all the current IMPACT Champions and that lineage will continue. We’re not crowning new champions. Fans will be excited to see the belts. We wanted to give them something new and something we push forward with into a new era.
