As noted, Mike Tyson is appearing at AEW’s 2020 Double Or Nothing pay-per-view because he attended the 2019 event in Las Vegas and had fun at that show, which led to talks for an appearance with the company. Besides that visit to Double Or Nothing last year, Tyson was also a guest at a Jacksonville Jaguars NFL game last September.
It was noted earlier this week that Tyson doesn’t come cheap, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that AEW got Tyson “for a good deal.” They did not elaborate on how much AEW is paying Tyson.
AEW’s idea behind the Tyson appearance is mainstream publicity for the title, the new champion, and the company.
Tyson, who is in the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, will present the new AEW TNT Title to the winner of the tournament finals between Lance Archer and Cody Rhodes at Double Or Nothing. There’s no word yet on if the two sides have plans to work together after that.
