Dave Meltzer has said many times in the past that you shouldn’t watch NJPW before any other promotion. His belief is that NJPW is lightyears ahead of them in quality and will make anything afterwards appear much worse. There are some people that agree and some don’t. One person who doesn’t agree with Meltzer? Tony Khan, CEO of AEW.
While Khan went out of his way to be polite to Meltzer, he added how baffled he is that anyone would make such a claim.
Never watch NJPW right before any other promotion. Always watch it last. I have that rule for a reason. Watch NJPW and everything after looks way too contrived in comparison. https://t.co/VmXvqyHorM

Also I wasn’t trying to dunk on or disrespect Dave (I respect him a lot) or minimize his opinions (which I often agree with). He’s entitled to watch any show he wants in any order. I was just surprised that’s his rule, and surprised he’d imply everyone should watch in that order.
