CM Punk Vs. Roddy Piper, Moxley vs. Foley, HHH vs. Bruno Sammartino, Brock Lesnar Vs. Terry Funk. We’ve all imagined what it’d be like to see our favorites from different eras going at it in their primes. For 14 hardcore wrestling fans, that fantasy didn’t become a reality, but rather an even bigger fantasy. The 2022 all-time fantasy wrestling draft began in late March and has steam rolled through 20 rounds the last several weeks. Wrestling Podcasters, writers, and enthusiasts alike have been putting together their dream rosters in a snake style 37 round draft.
Here is a breakdown of the RULES and ROSTER POSITIONS for the draft:
* 14 people in the fantasy draft with 37 rounds and a total of 518 picks
* Competitors can draft 26 singles slots (men/women combined, no cap on either gender), 6 tag teams, 2 managers, a general manager and 2 celebrities. Any celebrity that has ever appeared in any wrestling promotion is eligible to be drafted and can be used in any capacity to make the super show better (competitor in a match, referee, timekeeper, manager, etc.)
* There are no duplicates. Anyone drafted in singles takes that tag team off the board (example: Shawn Michaels goes singles; Rockers no longer eligible)
* Tag teams can be drafted in pairs as long as they’ve tagged at least once together
* As of round 20, any two people can be paired as a tag team even if they never tagged before Which means, if you want the team Doink and Kane (appropriately named “Funny as hell”) you got it!
Once the draft concludes, we all are challenged with booking a super show based off of the roster we’ve drafted.
